    Easy solution would be to add a invisible wall between the two sides of the river if the bridge is down. But I#m not sure if this game would even allow for a wall doesn't stop targeting and siege.

    The issue with the invisible wall is it would block siege (particularly ballista weapons) from firing on the top of one side to the bottom of another. Nothing that ominous is being created to counter mount + rapids, and you'll simply not be able to mount on top of the bridge "houses" just like you can't mount inside a Keep. Mounting at the lower levels and traveling from one side to another at the bridge level will still be permitted.
