In an interview near the beginning of ESO launch, Paul Sage (former head of eso) was talking about end game. Lots of different modes for PvP. And lots of different things for pve like roaming world bosses, adventure zones like craglorn that actually remained difficult group oriented zones. Sounded like he had a great vision for ESO. Wish he was still here

Not that. Removal of vet ranks, removal of faction restrictions, One Tamriel, craft bag, alchemical poisons. None of those would have happened with Paul Sage around

Faction restrictions should exist in a game with a huge alliance war going on

Why should it? In PvP you are soldier in the war. In PvE you aren't. Why should someone who is travelling the world and not participating in the war be limited to where they can go and who they can interact with?

No disrespect to Paul, but when developers are making games they often say a lot of things, very few ever turn out to be true.

I mean, Chris Roberts said Star Citizen would be completed.

Poisons aren’t a good thing either. Wait until @Publius_Scipio finds this thread. Paul Sage glorification incoming! ;):)

Remember, under Paul Sage, grind spots were nerfed left and right. At least now the devs let players grind it out if they so desire.

The game is better today, how much influence Mr. Sage had on this is not known to me. So not sure if the game is better because of him or in spite of him. But I do remember not agreeing with a number of his visions, as implemented in the game at the time.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

the truth is- a popular MMO that hits its 2nd cycle (years 3-6 in a 10 year cycle) - by this stage the developers aren't really in a position to drive innovation- as the game is now largely driven by what the community wants and demands. For ESO that has meant housing, PVE and crown store stuff and costumes and crafting . PVP , Roaming world bosses- , proper leaderboards, battgrournds custom matches, etc, etc- all the stuff won't happen now I'm afraid. at this stage developers are cautious and tentative- slow to react and slow to implement anything- they become like a politician at the end of their first term, hoping to just see out the game with profits. its sad- cos this game still has alot of room to grow i feel. but history isn't in its favour

well EQ 2 is still evolving adding races classes and new AA systems. and the game has been sold twice over to new companies. personally its not so much the cycle as the direction ESo is headed into its fourth year and has not evolved at all since its revamp of the VR system which personaly i think the game played better then. Oe tamriel was not implemented correctly and was not thought out well so i dont consider that evolution it was a step backwards. the Director wants one game and the long term community wants another. the churn could care less as they are never here for more then 3 to 6 months. so they picked the easy road and made content for the churn.

I think we also have to note that ESO has spent the last two years trying to find out what it is.

We've had to go through various changes in progression systems, turning Stamina into a viable build, various itemisation overhauls etc.

Now it's in a place ZOS have a core base of what ESO is we seem to be getting some new interesting content with mechanics based around the systems. We may still get some of these ideas down the road.

    Hi all,

We've decided to close this thread because it discusses a former employee, and information that is not relevant to ESO anymore.

    Thanks.
