Extra CP after update

So, the CP cap is increased, and the learning curve is adjusted. Does it mean that players with lower CP should receive some extra points with the update?
Two days ago I was around 485CP, but received no extra point that could have been provided due to the learning curve update.
Is that supposed behavior or a glitch?

Nope that's not how it works.

If you had 691 CP pre CWC you showed 660CP, immediately post update you would have 690CP to assign. When cap moves to 720CP you would have 691CP.

The rate you earn CP will be faster is all. So you will hit 486 quicker now than you would pre update.

    Hope that helps @DorianDragonRaze

The CP needed to gain a rank is scaled to the new CP cap, so if you are below the cap, you will now gain CP ranks a bit faster than before.

Let me rephraze my question: why did I remain on the same CP rank (say, 485) after the CWC update? Why the updated experience curve did not affect my CP rank?

The XP required for Champion Point gain is based on the following formula:
    (((x / (cap ^ 0.995)) + 0.085) * 400000) if x ≤ cap
    (((x / (cap ^ 0.995)) + 0.085) * 400000 * 1.5) if x > cap

To simplify, when they say “we adjusted the curve,” the number you have does not change. The xp required to get a particular point changes. For example (these are fake numbers I’m using to illustrate the point):

Xp to get champion point #300

    Pre-dlc: 825,000
    Post-dlc: 715,000

    For point #600:

    Pre: 1,250,000
    Post: 1,175,000

Thus, if you have to earn 20 million xp to get points #150-200 before the update, after you only have to earn 18 million to get points #150-200.

Your boat is in the same place, you’re just rowing faster now.

This is weird, because if "cap ^ 0.995" means power, then the Pre-DLC XP for 300CP is actually about 221,817

Did my XP value remain unchanged after the DLC?

If ZOS have changed my XP amount after the update, then I have no questions. But if a character XP is not changed by the update, then I should have received about 20 extra points.
    Here is my calculation:

    Pre-update:
    cp = 485, XP required for 485 = ((485 / (660 ^ 0.995)) + 0.085) * 400000 = 337,637

which means that I had at least 337,637 XP before the update,

    Post-update:
a similar amount of XP is enough for 506CP:
    ((506 / (690 ^ 0.995)) + 0.085) * 400000.0 = 337,078

which means that after the update, if my XP remains the same and was at least 337,637, I should have received 21 points.

which means that after the update, if my XP remains the same and was at least 337,637, I should have received 21 points.

The calculation is how much experience is needed for the next champion point, not how much you need total to get to that CP level. Bottom line, the change in the curve does not change where you are currently, it just changes how much experience you need to get your next champion point and the future points after that.

Why would I have the same XP that other people need to get 506 CP but I stil remain on 485 CP level? This does not make any sence unless my XP was decreased to match 485CP.

Again, your XP hasn't changed between before and after the patch.
What *has* changed is the amount of XP needed to get to the next level.

So if you were 485 before the update and you needed another 100,000 XP to get to 486 you will now only need 90,000 to get to 486. Please note that i pulled those numbers out of my arse to illustrate a point, they aren't real in-game numbers.

What SirAndy said, but I would also clarify that the experience total you quote is not what someone needs to get to 506 CP, but it is what they would need to earn to go from 505 CP to 506 CP. The number for you to focus on is how much experience you need to earn to go from 485 CP to 486 CP.

The experience numbers are not cumulative from level 1 or level 50, but just the points needed to get the next champion point.

The total experience needed to go from 0 to 506 CP is way more than that.

Because, your already past the tipping point (where your Champ Points cost more than 400K each).
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.
