After finishing the Clockwork City quests today, I found myself feeling kind of disappointed.
Not in the content of the update itself, but in the fact that all of the 'epic' fights were over in seconds before anything interesting happened.
And that got me thinking. Overland content in this game is kinda laughable, and really it has to be to cater to the lower demographic, that is what they do, not dungeons or trials or PVP, they quest and explore the world. And that is fine, people are allowed to play how they want.
But that does create the issue of more experienced players being dissatisfied with that sort of content, and so after a bit of rumination, I came to the conclusion that some kind of PVE battle spirit would be a pretty good way to solve this issue.
You cut player damage and healing in half, and possibly increase damage taken to bump up the challenge of content. And yes, I know it is artificial difficulty, but I'd take that over a quest boss that dies in 5 seconds.
As far as application goes, I'd say have a collectible you are rewarded with upon completing either the main story or Cadwells Silver/Gold that would apply the debuff for a set period of time, with the option to manually deactivate it like any other buff. You could also throw in some cursory reward like 10% increased gold drops to make running it interesting.
Anyways, I'd like to hear your thoughts on having something like this in the game. Do you think it would be an improvement to player experience or would it be a terrible idea that you'd completely ignore?
