New player - Understanding Dungeon Finder/Scaling

Hi All,

I've really been enjoying my time in ESO so far, I played a little when it first came out and was not impressed, but the game has come a long way since then it seems. So I'm slightly confused about the way dungeons work in this game, in other MMOs low level dungeons would introduce you to your class and were a way to enjoy casual group content... is that not the design intent behind ESOs dungeon finder and group content at low levels?

I was slightly shocked to see how difficult the first dungeon was (at lvl 10) that I entered. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for difficult content, I just didn't expect it at this early level. Just looking for a little insight from any knowledgeable players out there. Do I need to focus on leveling/gear, before I even attempt these dungeons?

Thanks!

There is no rhyme or reason to rhe dungeons or difficulty. honestly join a guild that willl make it easier.

Sorcerna, proud beta sorc. RIP April 2014 to May 31 2016 DArk Brotherhood. Out of retirement for negates and encases. Sorcerna will be going back into retirement to be my main crafter Fall 2018. Because an 8 k shield is f ing useless. Died because of baddies on the forum. Too much qq too little pew pew. 16 AD 2 DC. 0 EP cause they bad, CP 2300 plus 18 level 50 toons. NA, PC, Grey Host#SORCLIVESMATTER actually they don’t or they wouldn’t keep getting nerfed constantly.

There was a time when the dungeon would scale to the level of the group leader. Then ZOS began moving toward an overall game system where vet level and low level players could play together. It was first implemented in Cyrodiil, so it was called battle leveling.

To address a problem where a history of bugs kept people from using the Dungeon Finder which resulted in not enough people using it for it to be able to form a group in a reasonable amount of time, they introduced dungeon scaling, which meant the dungeon was scaled to max vet level, and then battle leveling would be applied to bring everyone up to the level of the dungeon. And now with One Tamriel, battle leveling is applied to everyone all the time.

The flaw in this is that a low level character once battle leveled to max, while your resources and resistances are scaled, you are only using the food and potions and abilities available to a low level character. So you are not really able to perform on a level equal to the level of the dungeon, making them rather hard for lowbies.

One Tamriel also brought all these new armor sets that drop from bosses. So many groups get formed with high level players who want to quickly run through the dungeon and don't like when players can't keep up and perform. So like was stated above, the best option is to join a casual guild. They will be more likely to work with you and help bring you up to speed.

This is probably the saddest thing about One Tamriel.

Battle levelled new characters (Under Level 50, no CP) have no introduction to dungeons and almost need a tutorial dungeon to do so they can understand how dungeons work. As a new player getting into to ESO this is super important as ESO is very different to other MMOs now.

High level players wanting to speed through dungeons for the loot does not make this any easier but the LFG tool needs to be smarter to not pair low level with high level, high CP characters.

Although One Tamriel is great (I've been wanting it since beta) there is still more work to be done on the dungeon scaling/grouping especially for new players.

I remember when ESO first launched and the theory on dungeons was you dont need usual setup of tank, heals and dps. And they were right, all of the dungeons up to lvl 50 were fun and wernt a serious problem.
VET dungeons sucked and were hard, but once you went light armour and used destro resto was heaps easier and guild groups still didnt need tank, heals, dps.... pugs were basically impossible though.
    Nowdays totally different story.
I assume Zos uses a model to tune runs based upon you having max cp, good gear, a gaming mouse so bar swapping etc is basically instant and animation cancels, and also have practised for hours and hours animation cancelling/ light attack/ heavy attack weaving.
just animation cancelling will usually double your dps.
Unfortunatly most pugs with low cp players, avg gear etc will pull about 10k single target which is too low for what zos are requiring.
To a group of high dps players the runs are very simple and fast.

I disagree. 10k dps is enough to get through 90% of the dungeons. Vet or Normal. Being Low level they are doing normal which is total doable at 10k.

The problem i usually see at low levels isnt the single target it is the aoe. Playing solo with just a couple mobs most new players arent use to the idea or practiced at dropping aoe and attacking or dropping aoe and spamming an aoe attack. Or even having an aoe attack, since lots of them are further down in the skill tree. When i am on a low level character we have much more trouble with large pulls then we do with bosses.

Sorry, I'm running around in ignorance and not finding anything clear with the changes in the systems (I knew how it worked in vet system).

I wanted to run some dungeons solo (because group finder, and peoples), so I could take my time and not have to rush, and could enjoy the story, etc. The problem is (I think), I'm about 272 CP, and I can;t figure out how to run the "NORMAL" version of dungeons for solo purposes. If I jump into a dungeon now, it's at the vey level, and I can get overwhelmed solo.

How can a solo CP 200x player enter the "normal" version of dungeons?
