What is Morrowind?

If it's not a DLC, what is it suppose to be?
If it just new content coming, why sell another game?
What is the point of pre-order?
....it's all still confusing.

It's actually really not, it's bigger than a DLC, but smaller than a "traditional" MMO expansion. You cannot compare it to Legion or FFXIV's Stormblood because those come packed with much more content.

Orsinium was labeled a DLC because it is not big enough to be an expansion and they had not conceptualized a "Chapter" yet. If Orsinium came out this year, it would probably be a Chapter. So really, we got a deal with that DLC.

Because the word "expansion" comes with a certain expectation of content that Morrowind does not provide. Zenimax did everything in their power to make that clear, yet still we have people complaining that it does not have as much content as a WoW or Final Fantasy expansion. Which is exactly what Zenimax told them before they pre-ordered Morrowind. They avoid "Expansion" because it would be, in a manner of speaking, false advertising.

Well, when comparing this game to other MMOs such as World of Warcraft we can see that ESO / Zenimax has extended its reach to console as well. In order to increase the player base they made the decision to change their business model from subscription based to pay to play. To still generate enough revenue they decided to bring out (once a year) those big content chapters (WoW does so as well with Legion or Burning Crusade). And I think its a good idea. Its very attractive for the console players. And will allow this game to keep going for a much longer period of time.

Pre-order gets you a few extra items for the game, so if you're planning on getting it anyway, then it's a good idea to make it a pre-order so you don't miss out.
