I don't know anyone who spent $300 to get their mount. I got mine for $24. No one I know spent more than $50.

You clearly have a problem with how people spend their money.

Some have spent over thousands on the crates and still never got one, Swtor CM rng

It is theoretically possible to not get it in that amount even if it had a 90% drop rate. That's the problem with rng, you are never guaranteed to get a particular result. The odds are astronomically low but there is still a chance.

I understand the annoyance with the Crate-Casino system. There's no reason to malign the players who choose to get these things though. I can see how people really wanting to get into the whole green pact bosmer thing are excited to buy those wild hunt mounts via gambling, but I just don't see myself ever gambling for anything in the game. There are plenty of players who will never gamble because they find the system loathsome. I'm happy with the game so far though, and as long as they make it fun and enjoyable, and I don't feel I'm missing out on something key to the game, I really don't care if people need the next greatest magical shiny mount. I will say that the 'crate-casino/lockbox' system that MMO's use nowadays is obnoxious. STO does it, SWTOR does it, DCUO does it and many other big ticket games use crates. In fact I feel as though every MMO I've ever played starts selling Crates/Lockboxes of some kind. The pressure is hard to pass up when its just free money on the table for game developers. While I've never looked at video games as investments, I have a gut feeling that MMO's are vastly more profitable than standalone games like Skyrim or Fallout (at least the ones that make it big).

Sorry that you haven't worked hard enough in your life to be able to afford things you want, OP. But really I only bought 15 each season. Got a mount both times.

    Advice: Be less salty.

You're no better, telling a stranger that they have never worked hard enough to gamble money on a video game. Re-evaluation is important, wouldn't you agree? As to the original poster, yes some people do that and it is hilarious. No one should pay any attention to people who think they are higher than others due to material things, at the same time it is just a mount dude. The only people standing around flossy and all that in my eyes would be VMoL completionist, Flawless Conquerers and Emporers. Lowkey Master Anglers as well...I envy them.

ZOS knows they would never get away with outright charging 20,000+ crowns for special mounts. Putting them in the crown crates was a brilliant idea. Some will spend a little getting the mount they want, but most will be spending a lot for the chance at getting the one they want.

Now excuse me while I decide which season's apex mount I want to ride off on.

Literally not possible. You would have enough gems to buy all the mounts at least twice over by the time you got to that amount of money spent.

That's pretty meaningless without also listing the value of what they did get for their thousands. Crates don't work like lottery tickets where you either win or lose. With crates you get at least a guaranteed reasonable value in drops and then you have the chance of something extra. What constitutes a reasonable value in drops? Let's just concede that what's crap for you may be well worthwhile to someone else.

Plus, of course, it's up to people how they spend their own money and it's not for us to judge them for that. Even if they find a drain and decide they want to throw their cash down it, are we in any position to judge them for that - let alone to condemn the contractors who put the drain there?

    No mount is $300

Players do have RL things or just plain talking to someone in game where their character stands still for a bit. Normal for any game.

But heck, if this is to much for you and you need longer want to log in that's your choice. We respect it but ask that you respect that we do not need an update on the status.

I don't really care for the crates but that's a separate issue. I've not seen this game ruining standing around on mounts you speak of. In my world at least, people are busy crafting, farming, running dungeons and trials, leveling, role-playing, buying/selling on traders, pvping and decorating their houses.

Haters gonna hate. It's none of your business what I spend my money on. And btw I ended up with cheaper items from the crown crates than if I bought everything out right.

So in my eyes the crates are actually a better deal.

If you dropped a grand on crates, you should have enough gems to buy at least 1 of the mounts.

Yeah, they should have just made those mounts 80k crowns per one and then we could have all complained about the real whales who drive what happens in the CS. Seriously, what did people expect when they were busy telling others they didn't need to buy 4k crown mounts, 5k motifs, no one was forcing anyone to buy anything etc? We were spoken down to, told to get our pauper asses out off the chair and get a job. Did people really deluded themselves into thinking that by defending one cash grab it wouldn't encourage another?

I spent $8. The Wild Hunt Camel was in my second crate. I only bought 4 and got that and the moth priest robes. All I wanted for $16, not $300.

Well the elk was 4k crowns. I spent 4500 crowns to get a wild hunt mount and got the WH Camel, a panther, a guar, a few pets and some costumes too. So I guess if you look at it like that, it was a better deal than the elk mount.

I still don't like it though. I'd rather just buy what I want. There's too much junk and duplicates in crown crates. Plus you don't get the full value of gems from the duplicates. You get something like a third of the value.

1 - I got my storm atronauch bear mount on the first crown crate I ever opened. Total cost: $0 extra.

    2 - I enjoy gambling.

3 - I get 1500 crowns a month to do with as I please as a side bonus to spending $15 a month for what amounts to a hoarding bag.

4 - I will continue to open up 3 crown crates per month for as long as I please.

5 - I will never open a 4th because I have self control due to being a well adjusted adult.

Note: I used to be a professional poker player and grew up in the shadow of Atlantic City. Before someone replies with, "but you don't know gambling addiction bro", trust me, I know it's pitfalls better than 99% of this forum. But ... once again ...
