House'S'DEAD
First off I would like to start this off with a "hello"
Hi everyone, come on in and sit down by the fire, boy do I have a story to tell.

HomeStead. Meant to be a place of enjoyment and fun for friends and visitors a like. I can tell you that its not. Its not a place of fun its actually rather boring.
And I will tell you why.
If I was wanting a place to call home, what would I like. A view...check. A lavish setting...check. A beautiful building that inspires adventure...Check.
A place to share with a loved one. Nope sorry. Even if you have been betrothed in they eyes of Mara and pledged eternity and devotion to your significant other, don't think for one minute that you can share that life with them in a HOMESTEAD, NO!
My Husband and I both went in half way to purchase a HOME nestled away in Stros M'kai. Our plan was to get away from the hustle and bustle and build a crafter's retreat in a sense that we can call ours.
But I can't. I can't even though we are married. By the will of Sithis, why have you forsaken me so.
Wandering around our newly purchased extremely expensive HOME *for the EU Guild market, I found that I cannot even place items down unless I was the owner. I thought that I was. I thought that was taken care of in housing permissions. Its not, for those wondering. The only way that I can put down my lovely golden goblet is to first gift it to my husband so he can put it down on the table. I have been married for more than a year now, I remember like it was yesterday, In front of the fountain at Davon's Watch. I have shared many things together like xp boosts for example. But not our Home. I am very disappointed that our home is not a home, it's a house.

This update should have been called HouseStead because it is not a Home, its just a House. A house in which visitors given the rights can push furniture around.
Will we ever see co-ownership? To make this Home a Home? I hope so.

This is just how I have been feeling about the recent update and some food for thought into changes.

Maybe you should ask your husband why he didn't give you decorating permissions in "your" house ...

Decorating permissions still doesn't allow you to place items, just move things that have already been put down.

Even with decorating permission a visitor cannot place items in the home. I'm in the same situation with my wife to be. We have been pledged in game for over a year and always play together. However the visitor is very limited with what they can do with the home and it is very disappointing. Visitor cannot place items or even go to home without the owner being online AND at the house. Doesn't seem like sharing at all. My girlfriend split the cost of the house with me and as also very disappointed with the fact she cannot buy items in crown store for our home or even place items. She can move items I already place which is rather dull for her not to mention an inconvenience to me as she has to trade me items, have me place it and then she can move it. As well as not being able to display her mount or pets.

There is a large discussion on this subject here as well as possible options for ZOS to implement this. On pg 2 there is a large comment on how this system could work if ZOS could only make it happen.

agree with the op it is a bit lame having a house you want to share, for example a guild house, when the only person who can place items is the home owner, the permissions for housing should be on the guild ranks level, example, our guild has 4 GM's who can all do the same thing within the guild, our guild house, the gm who bought it, is the only one who can add things, not good in any way shape or form.

Or why he put the home in his name vs hers.

Besides that this is just another home sharing thread. We already have some active so I suggest people try to change consolidate into one thread.

I posted a more recent thread with activity below.

I linked I too.. maybe it will get some attention from ZOS if there are more although its not the right thing to do in a forum :p

I agreed with my old lady after I purchased the first home that the next one is hers. But neither one will really feel like OUR home it will just be mine and hers which isn't as fun :(

I wouldn't say the update is shite! Its a great new system and they did a great job, I just feel like the community would just like a small change to this current format is all.

As long as the feature ti place/remove did not break new ground for transferring of crowns, i see no reason why this functionality should not be added as they move forward.

I am not surprised it wasn't added at release. When you are first throwing out a new set of permissions to the masses, cutting out the most severe risk level, the one where a mistake can be most costly, only makes good sense.

Can anyone imagine the furor if they had added at release a "take it all" permission setting and it had a bug/exploit?

At the very least, as a precaution, the orignal owner should be able to lock certain pieces that cannot be removed or perhaps even moved by anyone else.

but again thats a whole 'nuther level of complication that being left out of day one release doesn't sound bad but can be added going forward.

Like they said, the goal at release was to have all the build block systems they absolutely have to have out in place and then add more to that going forward.

True but check the other post there is a lot of discussion on how two people could share a home without the raiding. Items could be bound to each player although they are in the same space, etc. Lots of different ways to make that not an issue. I outlined in a large post on pg 2 of this forum how they could possibly make this work. Addresses many of the issues of item raiding and what would happen in the event of characters parting ways when sharing a home. We want o make this as simple as possible for ZOS as well as a system that will not cause problems for the developers or they will not consider doing it.

You need to give her permission first. Go to house and open the editor and go from there.

Just give him the furnishings you want to place. He can drop them from his inventory and then you can place them anywhere you want. What's the difference?

I understand your frustration, but it's not as dramatic a situation as you're making it out to be. I was also frustrated with the lack of co-ownership (my wife didn't care) but we use the above method and it works perfectly fine. I realize now that there has to be one chief owner or there are too many questions of what belongs to which party and who gets the house and furnishings in the event of a split.

I don't mean to sound callous but you're making a mountain out of a molehill.
