Random disconnects

Hello,

I just reinstalled the game, set correctly the ADSL modem to forward the correct ports, etc. My intention, after one year of break to return to ESO.
Just logged in, played for a bit my Nightblade to reset the skill points. Made to talents respec, gear equip, etc. Then I was trying to relog on my Templar to do the same ... and wow ... disconnect after disconnect, every 5 seconds to 1 minute. Then it hit me ... I remembered why I left ESO in the first place. This is why.

I did a full reset on modem, computer, etc. Nothing. The server is just throwing me out. It is really impressive that you aren't able to solve the connection problems after so many years of issues. In conclusion, I cannot play it from Italy.

I will try again next year. Maybe you will hire some new and better guys to solve your server problems.
All other MMO games are working just fine, except TESO . It is your server problem, not mine.

Nice fail. Probably this post will be deleted, just like the other similar one last year. I guess it is easier to hide your problems than solve them. I feel sorry to have spent so much money with your game last year.

    Sad to read this but what you said is so true :/ I agree it is definitely not your problem for sure.

    They are not going to delete your post in my opinion but nothing will change either. Bugs and lags will live with ESO till this game is totally die.

    What are you specs? Where do you live? I Left ESO some 6 months back because of the same reason. Since then I upgraded my GPU and changed ISP. A week ago I reinstalled the game and although I have huge pings in the evenings (something related to my location) I don't have disconnects anymore.

    I play from Italy, using for internet a 10mb ADSL connection from Vodafone. It's a perfectly stable connection as their central phone hub is about 250m away from my home.

    My specs:

    CPU Intel Core i5 - 2320 @ 3.2Ghz
    Mainboard: ASUS P8H77-V
    RAM: 8GB DD3 Corsair 1600 PC3-12800
    Video: ASUS HD7750 1GB GDDR5 128bit
    HDD: Samsung SSD's

    The PC was built by me in 2012 - I know it's a bit old now, but even like this, the game runs @ 60 FPS in PVE leveling .

    My system runs now with a fresh install of Windows 10, 64 bit.

    I've tried the game on both 32 and 64 - same result. I've set (as instructed on their official guide) both launcher and app with admin rights, compatibility to XP SP3. Actually I've tested everything instructed by their official post here on forums.

    I start using computers 25 years ago. I'm an expert in networking and old school VB, C++, Java programming, etc.
    I can understand most errors, specially if they are on my side. Sadly this time the fault is on EU servers, to be more precise, it seems to be their security settings. Anyway, I understand they must protect their servers, even at the cost of their own clients not connecting to the game :smiley:

    Anyway, best wishes to you all ! Maybe we will meet online one day ...

    Today when ever we try to travel Deshaan we disconnect. PC EU. Happened more than 15 times at least.

    Sadly, you are not alone!

    Today, I cannot play ESO! Every time I try to get in game I get disconnected - sometimes with an error message such as 'could not connect to server' but never an error code.

    I have tried both 32Bit and 64Bit clients but do not believe this to be a client issue - it seems to be a connection problem.

    The game allows me to (try to) login but I get disconnected either before character select, during character select, at the screen before game (this sometimes just sits there with the circle going round for many minutes) or a few minutes after the game starts. On the few times I have been in game it has been impossible to talk with NPCs and when calling a mount the character animation 'fires' but stays in place for ~seconds~ then cancels without calling the mount. Other players appear around me as normal!

    So! Today I miss playing ESO. I have other things to do. Should the disconnects continue tomorrow I'll have to post about such and, probably, raise a ticket.

    First i thought it would be nice to do some PvP so i went to Cyrodiil. But it was too laggy (999+ ping) i couldnt able to play. So i decided to do silver and gold pledges that why i ported to Deshaan but game started to kick me out. I relogged few times but it was too frustrating to arrive in Deshaan and i gave up from that too. Then i remembered that with one of my characters i didnt complete the final quest of the main story (Kill Molag Bal) so i relogged and went to kill molag bal but that quest is bugged for few weeks. In fact there are lots of topics about it but thats all.

    In brief basically i spent more than 2 hours on ESO today but done nothing. I mean this is seriously beyond embarrassing but what is this? Seriously how can i play ESO properly.

    So what i mean is your computer specs doesnt really matter here i obviously. Here in ESO things are actually screwed.

    I guess this is the EU server problem. They do not care much about EU, since we're for them a 3rd world market, after Asia and NA.
    From now on, I will only buy single player from them. Never again MMO.

    It's definitely not on your end. It happens to me on the NA server too (and only with ESO not with any other MMORPG and I've played a lot this year) but not as often as you. Maybe once a night or so but there's no pattern to it. Just something I really wish they'd fix on their end.

    Not just an EU problem, I'm having similar issues since this latest patch on a NA server. Tried everything they suggested to me and even got infuriated at the constant copy/paste "you must meet minimum requirements" stuff when I'm far beyond minimum requirements..

    This isn't on OUR ends, its on theirs, sad they will not investigate...this makes them far inferior in Customer Service and Tech Support to Blizzard and their World of Warcraft. :( Sad, but very true these days it seems....

    If my husband and I find a workaround, I'll definitely be sharing it!

    I finally found the workaround. It isn't Zenimax's fault. It is the fault of our ISP, since they are doing heavy internet packages filtering, trying to block the piracy ... Unfortunately the ports used by many MMO's are targets to this very aggresive filtering.

    The only way to avoid it is to use a tunneling service. I bought a service for 30 euro / year and I'm connecting directly to Germany. The game works like a charm now.

    Try it. Many services are free to try for a given amount of data traffic. It works !!!

    This issue happens to me often after patches, and this fix that Support has given me fixes it every time. Hopefully, it will work for some of you:
    Sometimes your connection can be routing through an area that is not optimal for a steady connection to our servers. One way to fix this and "refresh" your connection path is to remove your host.developer logs and allow them to restore themselves and find a better connection.

    Open the launcher as an administrator by right clicking on the launcher and selecting "Run As Administrator":
    Run a repair.
    Close the launcher.
    Locate the launcher folder. The default location is C:\ProgramFiles (x86)\Zenimax Online\Launcher.
    Open the Launcher folder and delete all "host.developer files" which contain numbers only. For Example: host.developer1, host.developer2, etc. Don't delete the one which doesn't have a number.
    Close Everything and then Reopen the Launcher.

    This should redirect your internet connection to a better pathway and keep you from getting logged out of the game.

    I get this quite often I have Intel 7700k, 1080 G1 card, 32 gig of ram, M.2 SSD. so nothing wrong with my spec, I also have 200 mb internet connection. It is really random and very weird.

    This is happening to me all the time, its so annoying, and they do not seem to hv a real fix for that.

    @Jenadara when did u get this answer from ZOS?
    All they ask me to do is Flush DNS and Power Cycle my home network. im trying ur sollution now.

    Just for sharing to other folks ill paste here the fix they ask me to try (and never helped)

    • In the in game chat type "/reloadui"

    • Remove any add-ons and repair the launcher

    • Close the game cleanly and wait for 15 minutes then log back in

    If this doesn't work power cycle your network:

    If performing a powercycle of a customer's/player's network, it is suggested that they Flush DNS before Powercycling.
    To Flush DNS:
    Click on the Start button
    Type cmd in the Start Menu
    Right-click on Command Prompt and select Run as Administrator
    Type "ipconfig /flushdns" and hit enter
    If it was successful, you will see the message "Windows IP configuration successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache"
    Power cycle the router to clear the cache so that it doesn't store the bad route

    To power cycle your home network, follow the process below:
    Turn off the router by unplugging it. If you have a modem and router in one device, turn it off then proceed to step 3.
    Turn off the DSL or cable modem.
    Note: Some modems are equipped with a backup battery. If your modem has one, please remove the backup battery to completely turn off your modem.
    Turn off all computers attached to your network.
    Turn on the DSL or cable modem first and let it boot. Let it complete its connection to your ISP before proceeding to the next step. If you have a modem and router in one device, proceed to step 6 after it connects to your ISP.
    Once the modem completes the connection to your ISP, plug your router back in. Let it complete its power on test before proceeding to the next step.
    Restart your computer(s).

    I get this all the time, logs me out to login screen, really quite frustrating as I am loving the game, it has nothing to do with my spec or connection. intel 7700k Kaby lake. M.2 SSD, 32 gb ram, 1080 G1 gfx card. virgin media gamer 200 Mbs

    Really driving me mad, sometimes disconnects several times in a few minutes then it could be an hour but happens all the time.

    Was about to start a thread till i found this.

    Since the maintenance, myself and a friend of mine get random disconnects from the game. Happens in Cyrodiil, vet daily dungeon pledge, or just randomly.

    We get kicked back to the log in screen for no reason.
    mDKs still need a lot of love!

    I keep getting randomly kicked to the Login Screen without any error messages. Started when I logged in after the server went back up today.
