Learning blueprint are tied to the player level ?!? i am lv 22 and keep saying my level is too low

I am master woodworking 50 all skills maxed, and i can not learn a blueprint recipe for woodworking 4 and 6? Game keep saying that i dont have the level to learn them

Do you mean that i have to be level 50 with my crafter now ????

I sincerely hope its a bug and i am not forced to level a character that i hate absolutely but i kept because she was maxed in crafting

It could be that you need a Material Level of 4 or 6 to learn the Blueprint.

Which is kind of a problem for just the reason you describe.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Check to see if they require another skill as well, I've found blueprints or whatever that required combinations such as woodworking AND provisioning, blacksmithing AND enchanting, and woodworking AND blacksmithing.

Kind of *** if you ask me, as I have maxed crafters for everything, but none with the combination of an armor skill AND enchanting, so some of the plans are useless for me.

the recipe in question was able to be learned by my cp 376 who have only 10/10 in woodworking and clothing and smithing no others boots in passif or abilities in crafting.

There was no other requierement beside to have woodworking 4

and i had all the materials

    No.

Its exactly as the OP said.. She/he has the skills required but is getting told that the level is too high for them to use. I am running into exactly the same issue. What I have figured out is that it seems to be somehow tied to the level of the person who found the recipe. My crafter is level 21. My main character is lvl 40. It is my main who's found the bulk of the recipes and I gave them to my crafter. She is the one who is getting the message. My husband found some recipes on his brand new character on Bleakrock and mailed them to my crafter and my crafter could learn them. Hell, I was even able to learn a recipe on my main (it was accidental) that I CANNOT make, because she's not a crafter. (so now that recipe is wasted >.< )

For those reading please note this: My crafter HAS the skill to learn the recipes (but she gets the same message). The requirements are in GREEN.

So this is what I'm thinking.. I think there's some bug that's tying the recipe to the level of the person finding it to the requirement for learning the recipe, beyond the skills needed.

    Please fix this ASAP.

Yep, I hit this too. My Master Woodworker is also about character level 22. She learned a bunch of blueprints that required just Woodworking fine, but the Breton Rack, Barrel, was apparently too tough despite requiring only Woodworking Level 4.

Either there's an unmarked requirement for Enchanting or Alchemy (since those are the only two skills this character is not also well-versed in) or these blueprints are checking something else they're not telling us.

I reported it in-game. Everyone else should do the same.

I ran into this same problem yesterday with 2 different diagrams on my woodworker. One required woodworking level 3, and the other required woodworking level 7. Yet I was able to learn a diagram that required woodworking level 10, and a blueprint that required woodworking level 3 and blacksmithing level 5.

Yes you can learn them if you looted them or the character who looted them is near your level. My husband had a recipe from a lv 20, and my crafter could learn it, but he tried to give me a recipe looted with a cp 378 and it was a no go.

Same, the only low level character i have is my crafter, 9 traits maxed in wood smith and cloth .... and she is totally useless as of now.

Add me to the list. This totally sucks as the market rolls on with out me. I have a CHARACTER lvl 20 with passive crafting skills maxed out. But I can not learn any furniture recipe that I buy from Guild Traders or my CP280 main.

I'm guessing they used some Provisioning back end and those do require a certain level. All I know is this knocked me for a loop. I have a support ticket in but Im guessing this will not be resolved at all or in the short term.

    Same thing happening with me.

I have a pattern (Pattern: Breton Bed, Bunk) that states that it requires Tailoring 4, Woodworking 2. Both of these are green on the "To Create" list, indicating that my crafter fulfills both of these requirements. Checking in her skill journal affirms that she does meet them. Yet when trying to consume the pattern to learn it, I receive a message stating "Your level isn't high enough to use this item".

    32403446380_6a2540d447_h.jpg

This particular pattern was purchased from a guild trader. No way of knowing what level the person was that looted and sold it. With hidden level requirements like this, you are going to end up with a LOT of pissed off traders who purchase items, sometimes for insane amounts of gold, that they are then not able to use for no discernible reason.

    I'm having the same problem.

I stole several patterns/schematics etc. on a level 27 character, laundered them and passed them through the bank to my level 11 crafter. He is unable to learn any of them, even the ones where he meets all the requirements to craft it.

For example one of them is Pattern: Argonian Basket, Serving. The only requirement listed is Tailoring 2 and he has Tailoring 5. When I tried to use it I got an error message saying 'You're not high enough level to use that item'.

ZOS, please acknowledge this in game and, if you're unable to hotfix it easily, please disable plans from being traded/sold by players. This easily has the potential to affect a large portion of the player base and generate a lot of animosity.

Too many people trying to sell plans in zone chat/traders right now, especially at extremely high value due to demand that comes with initial release.

Disabling plans from being traded at all will generate a lot of animosity from players with high level crafters who are not having any problem at all and want to be able to continue selling the plans we don't want in order to buy the ones we do want.

But I'm all for the development team giving this problem their attention and fixing it asap (hotfix if possible) so low level crafters can actually use the plans they purchase, or if there is a level attached to the plan, display it so you know before you buy it.

At least some kind of notice should be posted about this being a known issue in the meantime so you guys don't spend gold on something you can't use yet.

For now I'm just giving all the plans I can't learn to my mule to hold onto.

It's annoying though because I've found a few for furnishings I want to make, and I've got the materials, I just can't learn the recipe.

As an experiment I switched to a level 4 character and stole 2 blueprints/patterns/whatever: Khajiit Dresser, Faded (green) and Nord Pot, Chunky Stew (blue), laundered them and then passed them through the bank to my crafter.

My level 11 crafter does not have the required crafting skills to make either of them and does not have the ingredients required, but he was able to learn both immediately.

The only difference I can see between these blueprints and the ones he cannot learn is that they were originally picked up by a lower level character.

That's true too. I actually saw a plan I wanted earlier and would have bought it, but the seller had over 200 CP and I haven't even hit 50, so I held off. If I at least know the bug and can work around it with that knowledge, okay.

Then you get the jerks that give 0 ****. Someone was trying to sell a plan for over 30k in one of the zone chats. I mentioned the bug and his response was "not my problem, selling isn't bugged".

I'd be fine with some sort of warning or something so the above doesn't happen. Hopefully most of the lower level crafters don't have enough money yet to be dropping 30 and 50k on a single plan that they can't use.

So this is what I'm thinking.. I think there's some bug that's tying the recipe to the level of the person finding it to the requirement for learning the recipe, beyond the skills needed.

If you look at the raw data behind the item link for the plan you will in fact see that it has a level associated to it equivalent to the character that found it. Food recipes on the other hand, always show a level of 1 in the link data. So it does appear that you are correct. This bug isn't exactly new though as dropped siege from dolmens in Cyrodiil have the same problem. Maybe now they'll fix it.

Also, I'm assuming that plans are like food recipes you don't have to actually meet the requirements to make it to learn it but only have to meet the requirements to craft it.

Although I don't know yet from experience, I think your assumption is -- or should be -- correct. There is one important thing to remember from the Patch Notes for v. 2.7.5:

    Furnishing Crafting:
    ....
    > Furnishing crafting also utilizes several additional types of materials.

    >> Furnishings in a particular racial style require multiple style items associated with that race.

    >>> You do not need to know the Motif of a race to learn or craft their furnishing plans.

That last statement is a very significant change, because it does not apply to Blacksmithing, Clothing, or Woodworking for armor or for weapons. (See Note added to original reply, below.)

For what it is worth, I have yet to attempt to craft any furnishing item which has a racial Style for which I have not learned the "Motif", such as the Akaviri, or the Xivkyn (which costs 5000 Crowns in the Crown Store). Their style materials are also so rarely found in the course of play that I don't believe it would be practical to craft anything much in those styles unless you're willing to spend Crowns for the "one stone satisfies all styles" material.

Note: If your character has not learned the Style for armor or weapons that your PC must craft to complete a Master Writ, then it is useless, unless and until your PC learns the Style. Consequently, it seems that many players prefer to simply sell a Master Writ while it is "sealed".

That is, when a PC acquires a Master Writ the game client displays a dialog, asking whether the player wants to "accept the contract". However, the dialog doesn't offer much information that is essential to make an intelligent decision. If you accept, then it becomes a Crafting quest which your PC might never be able to complete -- unless you are willing to spend Crowns or Gold Pieces, for example, to acquire a Style motif. If you decline to accept the contract, it remains sealed and you can bank it, trade it, give it away, or sell it.

    I have this problem too.

    Here is what I've tried.

My maxed crafters cannot use/learn pattern etc found by other characters - this has HUGE implications for buying any from the auction houses.

Most patterns have been found with a lvl Champ 325 character. My maxed woodworker is lvl 38 - can't learn any recipes, even those requiring only lvl 2 woodworking (she is 10). However - my lvl 325 Champ CAN learn that recipe (she found it).

A woodwork pattern I found with a lvl 48 tank (blacksmithing maxed) - I gave it to my lvl 38 woodworker - couldn't learn it either.

Have tried this with several recipes across different characters - same results.

Basically for me, ONLY the character that finds the pattern/design can learn that pattern/design. Character Lvl is irrelevant.

Are you saying that once I get them to champ level they can use the blueprints etc found by my champ? DO you know this for sure or are you just guessing? The reason I ask is that when I swap recipes between non-champs only 10 levels apart, they can't learn each others patterns either. Thanks!

I'm afraid I have to shoot the current theory down. Tonight, my thief (level 19) *ahem* acquired at least two recipes that my crafter (level 31) was unable to learn, receiving the same "Your level isn't high enough" message.

So, it is not necessarily tied to higher level characters passing recipes to lower.

Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "My lady Meridia does detest the undead. I may need to sneak out on my duties on Artaeum to address it."

That's exactly what I found too - with lvl 38 and 48 characters - the lvl 38 couldn't learn the recipes found by my lvl 48.

That's why I posted that level seems to be irrelevant my the original post. We really need to hear from Zenimax on this issue - I have submitted a request to support.

    Same issue!
I hope the problem will be solved soon enough... trading time ticks - such a great loss of gold and creativity because of this.

No, that's exactly the same problem other people reported. Your crafter is a lower level than the character who found the recipe.

Basically the way it seems to be working is that when you pick up a recipe it's assigned a hidden level requirement at that characters level. So when your level 48 character picked up a recipe it became a level 48 recipe. When you tried to give it to a level 38 character (10 levels lower) they were unable to use it.

The only report so far which is different is BlackSparrow's.
