50% of players never upgraded bag or bank space

During ESO live the devs said they will not add anything for storage or a crafting-bag type inventory for furnishing items because 50% of players never upgraded their bag or bank space at all, not even once, so it's not needed.

They also said only 3% of people ever upgraded their bank/bags to max. That's the 3% giving you the most money ZOS.

Seriously? Does that 50% include people who created an account during free Steam weekends and haven't logged in a year? People's alts? All the banned and active bot accounts? TIL half the players are bots.

They should do their study again and this time only include the actually active players.

50% of the players, play the game 2-3 times and then never log back in as well. Are they gonna adjust an MMO based on that?

Even with the craft bag, I have max bank space 240/240 most of the time, it's pretty dumb they're not adding more to it tbh.

Also I kind of find the price for inventory kind of absurd as well 5/8 costs about 35k doesn't it, and that's only per character.

Like I said in another thread, @ZOS_PhilipDraven doesn't have a clue.

@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom This is exactly what I meant by opening a dialogue with players. ESO Live isn't cutting it because based on this idea; there's just not enough player feedback and stupid ideas like this pops up. :disappointed:

I don't think it's even possible to play the game and enjoy it without upgrading bag space. Quest for just 10-15 minutes, kill a couple of mobs, and that 60 slots you start with is going to be full.

I play a bit every day and I admit, I only upgraded storage on my main.
I lost sentimentality for my inventory a long time ago. Sell to merchant, Decon.
I rarely save things. My RNG is not that good.

On my main account all of my characters have maxed bags (including maxed riding lessons) and my bank is maxed. On my 2nd and 3rd accounts I've only done the first, cheapest tiers of bag/bank space upgrades.

On my main character, even when I have the bank space to "empty" my character's inventory, I still have over 60 spaces in her inventory taken up by all the stuff she carries around with her 24/7.

Shhh now. Common sense and honesty like that has no place in the process of crafting finely tuned corporate excuses.

I wonder how many of those 50% have Mule characters that do nothing but store stuff? That is free storage right there.

I think they are greatly underestimating the paying customers and what their expectations of the game are. It doesn't take much to understand that the people who didn't upgrade bags are also the people who don't actively play or pay for the game.

This is about bags, about magicka vs stamina balance, ranged vs melee balance, roleplay vs trial audience, pve vs pvp. All of that is judged atm in the same way, either statistics or because Lambert died from a "wind" in pvp....

I believe they just said yes, yes they are.

But don't blame the casuals from the last free trial weekend and sale - bots and alt accounts count just as much as any other player also in the statistics!

I dont have maxed on my character, but then i had 2 bank alts up until the crafting bag.

Now i have no need for more storage personally, bank access would be nice but (for me) not mandatory.

These percentages are always waaaaaaaaay off. Back in the days in Skyrim, only around 35% of players made it to the exit of the tutorial dungeon on the 360, a lot less on the PS3. These statistics cover those players who borrow the game from their mates and decide they don't like it after a few minutes. I've done it with many a game too in the past. Knew a game wasn't for me, but my actions will have been recorded by MS or Sony and passed on to the devs. A *** way to gauge things. About time they listen to those who actually devote their time to their product and keep their products relevant. That would be a crazy idea though.

With this bag upgrade ZOS logic, then 97% of players never use the Crown Store so we shouldn't have a crown store /s

The first few backpack and bank upgrades are quite cheap. I think a lot of people stop upgrading at the one that costs 20,000 or so.

That's not really true if you start your questing with only about 4 inventory slots full (1 for a stack of soul gems, 1 for a stack of potions, 1 for a stack of food, and 1 more just for the sake of argument). You can go questing for a good hour or two before running out of room - less if you're harvesting every node you come across and you don't have crafting bags.

I'm guessing a lot of them have mules. Although I don't know why people wouldn't buy at least the first tier or two of upgrades. Those are dirt cheap.

The point is is that they said 50% of players never upgraded bags, not even once, and so they are using that as basis for not adding storage options and a "crafting bag" for furnishing items. That number is very suspect and does not represent the actual, active, non-bot playerbase.

I am curious if this statistic is from active accounts . Maybe 50% tried the game and left . Most players I know have everything maxed out and even made guilds just to store stuff .

My other theory is the cost increase on bag space gets too high at certain points to justify paying when a alt can be rolled for free as a mule .

I wonder if now because of this announcement, they'll be a new divide between Maxed Baggers and Non Maxed Baggers.

"Maxed Baggers ruin the game! They're always want nerfs"
"You Non Maxed Baggers are the cause of all our problems! I miss the good old days..."
"If a person is truly desirous of something, perhaps being set on fire does not seem so bad."

Yeah, there's no way I'm sinking 60k gold into 10 more spaces. Would rather just wait until I began upgrading my horse storage. I always stop at 110 bag space due to the cost. Not because I want to, but because for 10 extra spaces it's not worth the gold sink imo. The bank is different as that is account wide.
