Crown Store Exclusive Motifs Ideology Bad - Stahlrim Frostcaller

I am writing this post in regards to the new Stahlrim Frostcaller Motif. It's a motif that myself and everyone I know have been anticipating for a long time. However, I find out that the motif can only by made using mimic stones.

I spend a lot of money in the crown store. I am subbed, I buy additional crowns during every sale, and I find this method a crock of crap.

I would rather spend 5,000 crowns on the motif and be able to grind for style stones than have to deal with the issues of buying mimic stones or trading.

The problem is that guilds that share crafters, have no way to trade for this style without bringing real-life money into the equation. Not to mention, it's a pain.

I think Zenimax needs to change the ideology behind these exclusive motifs to match that of the rest of the game. The game is built on a pay up front, play forever mentality. As someone who spends tons of money on this game, it's kind of a slap.

This is EA levels of "up yours".

Zenimax, if you read this: I love this game. I have put so much money into this game my wife rides my arse about it. I want to keep doing that but I will not spend money for crown store items that are purposefully built to continually suck my money. The game already makes you want to spend money through it's quality and character. It does not need gimmicks to do so. I love that you guys have built the game on that mentality. Please do not stoop to levels like this. My wife will be pissed and cut my gaming budget.

Well it was like this on grim harlequin.
I even made jsut the same thread with Harlequin when it came out.
Just... to be ignored until today. :disappointed:

Great post Tanner, this is EXACTLY how I feel. I spend a BUTT TON of time becoming a master crafter. I search endlessly for all the motifs in game, and I build armor for my guild mates and friends often! Stalhrim has been my favorite ES armor since Morrowind, and then in Skyrims "Dragonborn" DLC I fell even more in love with it. I then see it's coming to the crown store and I get giddy as all hell, only to find out just as I go to bust out my wallet that YOU CANNOT OBTAIN STYLE STONES FOR IT IN GAME. THAT IS ***. Plain and simple. Totally stopped my purchase, that is LOW value.

I LOVE this game, but this is exactly as Tanner said: EA Crap. I want to see this game continue to prosper and I have no problem supporting it financially, but this is a huge turn off. Very dissatisfied with this buy only *** when it comes to style stones. Best part is, your buddies or customers who want this style can't even buy the MIMIC STONES and hand them to you to make it!!!!!!

@TheDarkRuler I know it was and it's a shame. It's why I didn't buy that motif either. I would much rather put my money into something that can be used forever. Which is how long I plan on playing this game.

I am hoping that with enough voices, they can see that we hate this method.

And don't forget you only get 5 mimic stones with the new one, as opposed to 50 with the previous one. 5 isn't even enough to make a full suit.

There's corporate greed... and then there's ZOS CORPORATE GREED!

We know you just bought that nice, shiny motif... oh... want to craft a full set... BUY SOME MORE STONES CHUMP!

Amen @ookami007 that is another element of how this represents poor value!

Unfortunately for you guys, masses with wallets vote differently, they will buy and continue to support this kind of business no matter what. Temptation for new "shiny" is too strong, this generation of consumers want it all here and now.
Its a long time since in this kind of games people don't care about lore, worlds, quests, adventure anymore - what they care and want is new mounts, armor, costumes, pets, they are the main focus of mmorpgs these days.

    I agree!

I was about to purchase this motif (would be the first one as I am not really a fan of crown store exclusive motifs but that aside...) finding out it requires the crown mimic stones pretty much turned me away from this purchase. ZOS I stopped supporting and buying/playing all EA games because of their ridiculous rip off business practices, stop turning this game into something like EA!

This is ridiculous! No money from me for this now!

It's a bit worse than the Grim Herlequin, since we don't get nearly as many mimic stones with it.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.
