✭✭✭✭@asmael you also make some good points. But when people talk about dps, they generally mean single target damage. I do agree with that most fights are aoe in trials and already said this is where Stam sorcs shine, because of hurricane but anyone can spam steel tornado and get 60k+ dps. I concede your point about major fracture in a group but you are not always in a group.
The extra weapon damage from the passives for sorcs is sorta mitigated by the extra poison damage that dks get that apply to their own dots and the fact that dks can give themselves 5% more weapon damage from using igneous shields or weapons. Also the cost of ultis is sorta mitigated also by battle roar, the resources that dks get back is incredible.
In the end though, I think we both can agree it is the player behind the keyboard that determines the outcome of dps.0 -

NB are great stam dps too, as they are dot limited to flurry, they have surprise attack, amazing spammable. As was said, NB are the kings of gank in PvP.

Maybe AOE cause of hurricane but stam dks have 2 more single target dots(venomous claw and noxious breath, it counts as a single target dot if you only hit one mob and gives major fracture, which a stam sorc does not have access to) that they can use with vMA weapons. This alone gives them a huge advantage. Now stam sorcs have better survaibltiy because of hurricane, crit surge and bound aegis. I am not down playing hurricane but that is really the only damage ability that gives a stam sorc an advantage. Dark deal is a channel and I would think sustain from igneous shields is better cause instant and you get a good sized shield, and everyone around you does.

Fair enough points, even if it still needs to be commented a bit.
Stam DKs having Venomous Claw does make a difference (along with Standard of Might), which allow them to effectively get the highest single target DPS (by a margin, however small). Noxious breath, however, is either a Rending Slashes replacer (weaker single target, but AoE) or is used unbuffed. Major Fracture matters little when it's already available with Pierce Armor.
When it comes down to passives, stam sorcs have the upper hand thanks to huge ultimate cost reduction (combined with Rend which can be empowered), passive execute on all attacks (Implosion), 5% extra physical damage and some weapon damage (2% / class ability slotted). This effectively makes stam sorcs passively better AoE wise while still being on-par with stam DKs when it comes to single target. Stam DKs rely on Claw & Standard, while stam sorcs rely on passives and Hurricane.
Thing is: 98% of trial fights are AoE fights, which makes stam sorcs the overall better choice in most situations and a better fit for current competitive trial tactics.

You just helped me realised their niche. Nightblades are the best class for doing the thieves guild, and dark brotherhood content. Thank you for helping me realize their purpose in this game. I was starting to think the class as a whole was underwhelming or something.2 -

I'd be curious to hear the reasons why you think stam DK is the current best for DPS, while sorcs are mid tier.
Magicka DK has surpassed stamina DK as of current top tier dps numbers but not by much.
I would like to see the receipts with this statement. Like how is it possible.

The REAL truth of the matter is, it's VERY subjective and situational. A stam NB in a group situation with a DK tanking can burst amazingly high damage against a single target - say a boss - and outperform most (if not everyone) in the group.
Same NB and same DK in a different situation, with lots of trash or in a PvP situation with a lot of players, and the DK out dps's the NB because of his AoEs.
I have multiples of every class. Honestly, for button pushers with limited skill, grab any class and start mashing buttons. If you have skill and are a min-maxer, it doesn't matter what class you are playing, you're going to be at the top of the dps list because you're going to have your rotations down to a science and gold BiS gear.
