Stam DK pvp survivability pre-vigor

I decided to take my stam DK, who has never been in PvP before, to Cyrodiil to get the alliance war skills. An hour into PvP, I realized I had one problem: igneous shields+ rally isn't going to cut it. Now, I'm not going to complain that vigor should be lower in the assault skill line, as you only need to be a tyro to get it. However, despite this, it is relatively difficult to gather enough AP to get vigor due to fights being increasingly difficult with this handicap. My question is how do I increase my survivability as a stamina dk without vigor and without going complete turtle mode by constantly holding block, which is delaying the inevitable?Before you ask, my character isn't a lightweight, as she is wearing 5 heavy and has 3900 WD on her 2h bar with 25000 resists, 30k health, 44k max stam, and capped crit resists. Without vigor however, my opponents can just chip away at me until I am dead.

The way I grinded vigor on mine was I made it a magdk and went from there. Magdk in pvp is easy, just roll a lit staff and chuck eruption at breach and deep breath in zergs, just hit as many as you can and let everyone else kill them and you get the ap. Just takes a skill reset and an armor set.

3-5 seconds, if he stays ranged

I had to repair walls to unlock it because I was so squishy with just rally and green dragon blood that I stood no chance in actual battles.

Id say, there are quite the healing skills that a MagDK has, Obsidian Shard is a quick range healing for example, and it can be as powerful as breath of life with enough on blessed. Coagulating blood is also good, In PVP, potions and those self heals are enough to keep me alive, Dueling is the same thing

I totally agreee with your vigor-grinding pain!

I am pleasantly surprised at how well coagulating blood buffs the heal from rally due to minor vitality and draconic power passive (can't remember the name, but increases healing received). Both act as heal over times and both can be used for burst heals. It's not perfect healing, but there is a tremendous synergy between these two skills.

Actually it's not a pain anymore to get vigor. It's something like 100K AP to reach the required AR rank. Best way to earn AP quick is to join a populated campaign and run with the zerg. Everyone will be spamming heals to maximize their own AP gain so you won't need your own until you get into small scale, 1vs1/X.
