As long as it stays to cosmetic items, and I believe housing is included, I really don't see a problem. I played D&D on console and stopped when I realized how P2W it was, those lock boxes gave you legit items that were very expensive and not just cosmetic.

ZOS you do you with your crown store, as long as you don't stoop to P2W I'll always support it (may even pick up a few boxes from my monthly crowns for subbing).

Crown purchases supports the game in a healthy way, and if people want to spend 40$ on a lightning panther let them! Cuz my horse will run just as fast as it. And i really enjoy the fairly rapid dlc expansions, as soon as one drops we start getting teased for another.

I subbed for 180 days in June. At that time if I had known RNG boxes were coming I would not only have not subscribed ESO+, but I would also have deleted and left the game for good. Now, to my surprise, they decided to add RNG boxes to the game despite the fact that they have promised they have no such plan. Therefore, for me personally, the game will soon become a product, on principle, totally different from the product that I have subscribed to. Can I get full refund for the 180 day subscription fee I have paid??

    where is the promise?

a statement saying 'we have no plans' made a year ago and you construe that as an eternally binding promise... lol

I'm afraid it's par for the course here. An old comment that the subscription model was well-suited to the game turned into a broken promise and a lie when they later announced that in addition to retaining the subscription the game would be B2P.

I don t know why people are so affaraid and disgusted about loot boxes. As long people will not be able to trade items from boxes to others it not affects game at all. Dont like loot boxes? Dont buy them. There will be stil things You'll be able to buy for crowns like mounts etc.

Do I have to expose them time and time again?
    20160823072448.png

Do you know what a plan is?

Do you know the difference between an informal plan and a formal plan?

Do know which one she is referring to?

Oh it's about the meaning of the word "plan". We know there are always plenty of ways to break a promise by playing rhetoric games. The promise to never make the game P2W is also as vague as hell. I mean, what P2W is really??
I doubt it will ever become P2W. This is not your standard eastern MMO. It's a western company that is fully aware that P2W games don't work here in the long run.

Just look at what's happening with BDO. Do you think ZOS would be foolish to cross the same line?

Personally, I don't care about cosmetic items as long as they remain bound to the account that purchased them.

Isn't it funny how everyone becomes so literal all of a sudden.

Clearly the question wasn't made in a time basis that only stands for right then. The response was a legal one but in context, it was understood that they would not add them to the game.

Same as the question about removing a sub or questions about cosmetic only items being in the crown store.

Why can't we see that ZOS typically gives response to appease the community but will often change directions later.
Some would say it's lying or misleading because the response in context was not time bound.

If someone asks you, hey will you do XYZ?
And the answer is No, I have no plans to do this or that at this time....the next question is what about the future?
When someone doesn't respond to the time bound question but did respond immediately in a sense of time, it's misleading cause you're intentionally ignoring the clarifying question.

In this case the response doesn't say "right now" so...guess what. You changed your plans it seems.....so it's worth informing the community. But we don't want to see that part

It's a PR nightmare that ZOS is going to have over their shoulders now for a few real money grab inquiries since release where actions have changed the actual answer.

It's the things that are going to be exclusive to the boxes and not available in the store that are causing some concern. In the 53 page long thread about the boxes, the clip with the statement about the "super special items" is linked. If the only way for someone to get an exclusive item is the gamble boxes, it isn't 'optional" for the people who want the item, pay to win or just pretty costumes and blue lightning farting giant cats. Not to mention the "gems" in trade for dups. If you get a duplicate of something you already have, you can trade it for gems to use in the "gem store" to get the item you really wanted. maybe. No information about whether it will be a straight up "I got a duplicate guar but I want the senche" trade, or if the item you want is going to take more gems than you got back from trading in the guar or whatever. So then you need another box that will hopefully have dups you can trade for more gems to use to buy what you really wanted. Because gems aren't the same as crowns, and there is no information about whether gems can be bought, or only gotten from trading in dups.....

What's wrong with the boxes? How will it affect your gameplay? Why does people spending their own money/crowns for boxes matter to you?

If anything it's supporting the game, can you actually be butthurt that someone bought a box and got a costume or some other cosmetic item?

    20160823072448.png

And they also said the game will never be P2W, you still believe em after this?

It's still not p2w... but things do change. All your doing now is speculating and assuming.

There's no debate here, you can post year old posts all you want, still stands that the quoted text was stated a year ago.

Well, it depends on what is in the boxes.

And afaik, this game has always had RNG boxes. Have you talked to any of the AP/TV vendors in Cyrodiil?

Spending 4,000 crowns on a Lightning Panther is not the problem, the problem is people with a weakness for gambling spending 40,000 crowns on dozens of random chets they can't really afford trying to get it via RNG.... this is preying on the weak like the worst companies do, it's sick.

I don't see a promise anywhere in that quote. "We don't have any plans" a year ago doesn't mean plans will never change. Life changes in a year, business needs change in a year.

Its just cosmetic stuff anyways. I was surprised how people cried with Overwatchs Olympic cosmetic stuff, especially in that game since you cant even see your character 90% of the time. But gamers feel so entitled to have everything, I don't think everyone needs everything. Its nice seeing a variety of stuff in game.

If another year from now ZOS changes the story again and adds pay 2 win stuff in the box, I know people are going through a holy hell fit, just look at what happened in Black Desert.

As much as I've enjoyed ESO since beta, I would probably quit then too. One thing I like about ESO is its not pay to win and I feel the cash shop is fairly priced, unlike Black Desert which went pay to win and even before that the cash shop totally screwed players. Charging $30 an outfit and you can only use it on one character on your account.

I've never understood this mentality of "preying on the weak"

You're just a number to them to get money out of. You're not a weakness. Painting everyone as a victim is just a false thing to do, and in my eyes, lessens the experiences of those with genuine problems.

And to use an analogy here, would you, for example, buy a year long cinema pass and go and ask for a refund if there were no films coming out that appealed to you?

This might sound cold, but I get where you are coming from but ...

All sorts of personalities I dare say - play this game.

The game will already have players who have probably purchased absolutely everything in Crown Store, what of it?

If gambler types are gonna be tempted by the rng boxes, then thats their problem, the money they put in the game benefits us all, might not benefit them, but again, thats on them.

They should have the discipline required not to, its always the players choice at the end of the day.

Sounds cold maybe, but its human nature, and its not forced on us by any means to buy items from Crown Store, its up to the person concerned, all Zeni is doing, is making the option visible and why not.
