Yes but you get two evenly matched players, the better class is always going to win. Therefore, if you're a well skilled player, there's no point in playing a magicka DK, wrecking all the newbies in the sewers because soon as you come up against an equal skill opponent in a duel, you're going to get destroyed.

Evenly matched.... I've seen some nasty Magicka DKs slaughter "good" Magicka Sorcs before.
Sorcs and Nightblades have great mobility, which is why they are (rightfully) seen as the stronger. They have the speed/stealth needed to escape and maneuver accordingly versus groups of players in PvP, your 1vXers
1v1 is completely different. If Sorcs/Nightblades were so strong they would never even come close to losing 1v1s.
Dragonknights and Templars have to work much harder to get any mobility. They don't have any reliable in-class source of Major Expedition or Cloak/teleport/bolt escape. This is why 1vXing and strong solo players pick Sorc/Nightblade. You need speed to evade zergs.
However, pit a good Magicka DK versus a typical Magicka Sorc in a 1v1 and that Sorc will Bolt Escape against a wall (can't turn when rooted w/ talons) until they quickly die.
--> 1v1 is 95% skill/build, not your class. That other 5% is reserved for Shieldbreaker Stam builds versus anyone using shields.

Now if you mean favorite, I really took a liking to templars. Started the game as a breton sorc, ended up an imperial stamplar
