Assistants: Why gimped?

I just don't get it. Why the gimped functionality?

I don't care so much if the new assistants cost 2k or 5k (I personally think 5k is a bit much, but that's another discussion).

So my question to ZOS or anyone else: Why release a luxury product for a premium price with limited functionality? Would it be exploitable if I could repair at my assistant or if I could access my guild bank on the go? Why sell a convenience feature with an added layer of unconvenience? I just don't see the point, I'm sorry.

If they offered free repairs at any time they would limit their sales of goods such as crown repair kits.

Guild bank I am not sure but it may have something to do with a limited feature. You currently already have "access" to what is in your bank wherever you go (think of pulling crafting materials or refining items in the bank) but we do not have access to guild banks everywhere.

    Just thoughts.

My main worry is if they decide to release full function assistants later, for even more crowns. Which would make the purchase of these first ones a waste.

Meh, I keep armor sets in my bank, would be nice to be able to swap them when farming IC, opens up more space for farming motifs and such. Makes farming a bit less of a grind as well having access to everything, not too worried about the repair kits, Guild Bank access to me would be more important

Tbh, unlimited repair kits for a flat 5k crowns still sounds like a pretty good deal for ZOS.

There's an idea that technology manufacturers (Apple, Samsung, PlayStation, Xbox etc) currently have the ability to release the next 2-5 upgrades in their respective products. Yet, rather than jump straight to the biggest technological development they'll only release them as piecemeal.

Whether it's true or not: I don't know. Yet if it is, it's likely because there's beetter margins from utilising existing processes, it doesn't start a R&D war and it's easy revenue.

ZO$ are likely withholding these fully functional Assistants until further down the line to release for additional Crowns. If these 5/10 Assistants sell well for 5k Crowns, then they can then release 10/10 ones for even more knowing that there'll be a demand.

I imagine that guild bank access will be sold separately in the form of another assistant.

Can I get a game that plays for me too? Seriously, takes about 30 seconds to wayshrine to a bank/merchant anywhere in the world.

Seriously... but that's 30 seconds there, then the time to interact with merchant, then wayshrine back... and going BACK may not be as convenient as you make it sound. One thing I hate is being out grinding and having full inventory, then needing to break away to wayshrine, then interact with Merchant, then with Bank, then wayshrine back... then travel for who knows how long to get back to the original starting point- this can also be a pain if you're questing and need to interrupt your progress to jump through the hoops just to sell items, deconstruct, deposit in bank, etc. So no, it isn't AS easy as you make it sound, especially if you have limited time or have to constantly interrupt your gameplay in order to offload loot.

What I'd love to have them introduce is portable crafting stations... that way we could deconstruct without having to constantly venture to town while grinding or questing.

Without the ability to repair, the merchant assistant is useless. There are merchants wandering around everywhere so they just arent worth the price. The are way overpriced.

There are crafting stations outside of cities in every map so I don't think we need portable ones.

Makes you wonder if they are going to reduce the 'wandering around everywhere' of merchants now, basically forcing people to invest in these Crown Store versions.

Also, crafting stations are within SOME cities, and again it means abandoning your quest/grind just to decon/research, etc... to free up inventory space... adding even more monotony to the activity. In DCUO, I found the portable R&D station to be immensely useful because it allowed me to do things in the field without having to constantly jump around just to craft something. If we're adding 'convenience' items to the game, then ZOS should consider adding items for everything.

There are already quite a few posts of people feeling ripped off by the new assistants.

I think ZOS should communicate more clearly what these assistants do and don't do.

Beyond that it doesn't make sense to offer a product for a high price that falls short of people's expectations (taught by the game).

For the current price the assistants should have the same functionality as their in-game counterparts.

If the assistants had full functionality I would have bought them, not a chance I'm buying these, showing my thoughts on these the best way possible, with my wallet.
