Scale PVE difficulty---Its just to easy

    You could also take the total spent cp of your group and raise the difficulty based on that.
    In return dropchances for gear should scale with the difficulty that is raised based on the groups total spent cp.

    Waste of development time. They should spend time creating new content not waste it scaling PVE encounters over land. You want PVE challenge buy IC and PVE while people try to kill you. Run vet dungeons and trials. Tons of PVE challenge already in the game.

    Hmm yes and my whole point was that the difficulty is fine as it is. You want more challenge like I said buy IC then add pvp to the mix.

    Half the Veteran dungeons can be soloed, the other half can be duoed. We have 4 man teams completing 12 man raids on HardMode while giving a narrative about it. A few weeks ago I stepped into Crag on an alt and soloed every single Public dungeon in upper and lower (minus the ones I couldn't do from mechanics) and felt no real risk of dying.

    Can everyone do this of course not, but a significant number of people can and many more could should they care enough to bother. I suspect you say PvE is fine the way it is because your perspective on it is "what is the objective", to you completion is at best the only goal. If I am not worried about dying then it simply isn't hard enough, I should feel confident in my ability to survive not complacent knowing I would have to be asleep to die.

    The game is not balanced toward the hardcore high end. If you are looking for that this is not nor had it ever been that type of game. To waste time trying to scale it when you guys will just beat it anyways makes no sense.

    Did you do Veteran prison with 3 people? Impressive.

    Oh, you did it normal. Not impressive. It is normal for a reason. This scaling that you seek is found in the VETERAN area. I am surprised you missed this aspect of the game.

    As I mentioned earlier, the perspective of "Completion" isn't the point. You can make PvE content challenging in a way that will discard the "Creeping power gap" as has been dubbed here. For instance vma is almost 100% mechanics (bugs aside), once I beat it and got comfortable with it on my sorc I was able to beat it on both my templar and my NB with much more ease. It's an environment made up entirely of mechanical knowledge even if it doesn't appear that way. Their is no reason a player shouldn't have to learn mechanics to beat an environment, can those mechanics be ignored with enough dps sure (as in any game), but lets not treat our playerbase as if they are still learning how to Log-In to the game shall we?

    If you feel Champion Points are ruining your gameeplay experience, by all means go to your champion point menu, hit F to redistribute and hit the minus sign on all of them. You can turn them off.

    I'd also suggest stacking weapon damage if you're a caster. You can make the game harder on yourself if for some reason you think it's too easy.

    That's exactly my point, a level 1 should walk into the game and his first fight be extremely difficult because he has no idea how to play. This will enforce him to research useful builds, start learning different types of rotations, and actively look for a guild to help with the grind. You've literally confirmed everything I believe needs to happen so players don't reach vr1 as a dpsshieldoffhealtank that will play HOW THEY WANT TO PLAY.

    I don't see what's so "ridiculous" about this ... It's one measly mountain lion. Shouldn't a seasoned warrior or mage be able to handle this small threat without breaking a sweat? Or should big cats now be mind numbingly difficult, too?

    What do people want, really? It's insane - some players don't want to be powerful, and the rest complain about not being powerful enough. "Make it harder - make it easier - it's too hard - it's too easy - nerf it - leave it. That's what's ridiculous. lol

    If dungeons are so easy, start doing them by yourself, or just bring one teammate along. Do the dungeons without a healer -that's what my friend and I do. I stopped feeding, and would go in the fire dungeon while I was stage 4 vampirism. Challenge yourself.

    I agree, and that is often what I end up doing as well, the..frustration(?) comes from using this method and ignoring the larger issue at hand that causes problems down the road. For instance;

    Pledges require us to step into dungeons, but only doing one a day means we are forever resigned to stepping into dungeons so stupidly easy its almost an insult to bother doing them again. Make the content more of a challenge (for better rewards) or allow unlimited pledges a day to grind past the idiocy.

    "public instances" are at best an annoyance due to the amount of people farming "world" bosses. Make the bosses harder or instance them for better rewards at harder levels.

    The list tends to drag on but you get the idea.

    Given the game isnt rated for kids (yes bit of a joke with ratings) I cannot justify that as a cause for a part of the game being the way it is. On the other hand I agree this is absolutely a gateway mmo, and to that end there do appear to be many that are "playing just to play" as you put it.

    We appear to be reaching an impasse as a community, do we focus more toward traditional mmo progression with harder content and more time-oriented BoP items/achievements or do we focus more on the fact that is skyrim online ( dont rage). The game before this point was too new for it to be too divided, but that number in the last ~6 months appears (my opinion) to be starting to shift. What I believe we would all love is for ZoS to make a decision on the matter so players (like myself) can know if we can still hope for harder more dedication oriented content, or if the more "let me collect every recipe in the game because yes" type of player will become the center focus.

    Id say the latter if its the only two choices which it isnt. If you are looking for a wow type raid progression this game will never have that. So to answer your question they tried hardcore with Imperial City. It was a disaster. They know who their main crowd is. Its people who love the elder scrolls games. Its not hardcore raiders wanting even level 1 to be so hard people have to go online and look up builds when they dont even have a skill point yet.

    I think when they released it as it was,they made their statement that the game is as they wanted it.However,they are hounded continuously be people wanting this,wanting that,etc. The "let me collect" type of player far out numbers players "like myself",as you put it. The Devs cannot pander to those who just keep at them for more changes as if they are entitled to them. There are things I was expecting when I got this game.Things that were advertised,but werent there when it was released,but I dont mind.I take what is given me,as it should be.I dont have the right to gripe all the time until I get what I want,like a spoiled infant.
    Please dont take me wrong.I mean no insult.It's just that this game is fine.It doesnt need more more more added to it.,or changed to please a small number of people.
    Yes,there are problems,as there are with literally any other game.They dont change all those games and yet people still play them,so why should ESO be any different.
    Again,not being rude or insulting.This is just my opinion.

    Very well said, insightful to say the least.

    @Volkodav

    It's amusing people are so carebear you have to constantly apologize when making anything close to a direct statement. Your reasoning is logical and I can find no fault with the examples given, perhaps it's time I reavaluate some choices in playstyle regarding eso.

    Thank you for your kind words.I am with you about the carebear bit.I didnt use to do all the crawling when I posted,but those who's skin is so thin they assume anything differing from what they believe is an insult to them personally have changed my posting. :}

    Hi again I wanted to add something,

    I think that the open world should stay the same, even though I would have like it to be harder. I understand that new players or non hardcore/casual players should be able to play trough the content.

    However in my opinion public dungeons and delves should have been private instances, and like dungeons should have had options for hard/veteran mode. And events like anchors should scale to the amount of players, instead of being faceroll easy the moment 3+ people are involved.

    I understand like mentioned before that there is challenging content like veteran dungeons raids, however that is pretty much endgame content. giving players more options along the way would have been nice.

    I know this is highly subjective, I just would have liked more stuff along the way, map events/group events, delves & public dungeons with a hard mode. I just wanted to see more challenging stuff to do besides raids and dungeons at endgame.

    So maybe ESO isn't the game for me? probably. Does that make it a bad game? Hell no, it's just was not my cup of tea probably.

    But if dungeons and delves are private instanced then how could you run with someone else through it.I personally enjoy going into a delve and finding there is another person who is doing it s well.We might not group,but we both have fun finishing it together. I'd hate to have things privately instanced.
    Any game can only give so much challenge.It can only go so far. It cant keep changing to fit each person's view of a challenge.
    The game was made for everyone to enjoy.Youngsters,hard cores,and Casual players.The term "casual" seems to be an insult,but it shouldnt be.Those casuals,as one calls them,pay a lot of money for their games too.The hard cores seem to feel as if the game was for their own use alone,but it wasnt. Those people will never get enough of a hard play for them. ESO will never be hard enough to please them,and they'll continue to gripe that it isnt good enough for them. Thing is,they arent the majority.The Majority want it to be fun,..just fun.Not too hard,not too easy.
    Also,ZOS will always have to go with the money,due to having to pay for it's staff,servers,etc. To please a minority wouldnt make them a whole lot of funds.And before you say this isnt true,..it really is. It isnt wrong for them to want to actually make money on a game.That's what all game producers do. It's why they do it.

    I understand that the game cannot cater to a spesific minority. And not running into people in delves and public dungeons is the downside of having private instances. I mean you could group beforehand. However in my experience in 90% of the cases people just run by in public dungeons and rarely interact. The point still stands though that doing delves, public dungeons and dark anchors. with more than 2 people is kind of trivial as you just faceroll every mob.

    And like said it earlier ESO is probably not my cup of tea, it did not really hit that sweetspot for me personally.

    Um,..you dont play then?
    As to grouping,most people dont take the time to ask people to group with them when they are running through a delv or dungeon.They DO wind up doing it together,and while they dont chat,this IS interaction.It happens to me all the time,and it's great just like that.

    I'm with OP. Large swathes of this game are mind numbling easy.

    Were they mind numbing easy when you were a noobie who knew nothing about anything in the game? I find too many people who have played their way to the top and decide to make an alt but hate the low level PvE because it is too easy. Even I (and I am not a power player) find things get easier as I learn the ropes. Go naked and help some hapless noob win a world boss fight.

    1-50 should be as hard as veteran ranks, at vr1 there should be one scale of difficulty and that is VMA. If you had that you wouldn't have the tankwithbowoffhealdps that we have now.

    No they shouldn't be as hard as Vet levels. If level 1 was as hard as level V1,no one would be able to learn how to play the game.You have to be a newbie before you can become a Vet.You need to progress as you go on,or you will never be good at using your skills.

    Actually,it will cause a lot of people to quit.If you get a game and right off the bat you cant even win a fight,what kind of fun is that? Most people dont want to have to research for builds,etc.They just want to play a fun game.Eventually,they might get into all the technical side of things,but most dont get into it for that to begin with.There are lots of kids who play ESO,even though it isnt rated for them,and many new to games period.
    It's alright for veteran MMO players to say this type of thing,but many people have never played MMOs,so they need to be able to learn,not be forced into hard play upon entry.

    Probably not. And this thread perfectly illustrates how readily people are willing you jump down someones throat for even daring to put context to their position, and ask for something that would only affect them in a private instance. Simply because it relates to difficulty. (including myself)

    So these threads always go nowhere.
