How Trading works in ESO

You find an item that you don't have any use for, but that someone else would. It's worth a lot of money.

You put it in the guild store in the hopes that they bid enough on that vendor in Mournhold.
They didn't win the bid, so nobody outside the guild can buy your item.
You ask the members of the guild if any of them want the item and nobody does, forcing you to sell it some other way.

You run through every town in the game asking if anyone wants to buy your item, nobody does.
You'd put it in your bank, but it's full.
Your inventory is filling up, you have to get rid of it soon.

You go absolutely everywhere trying to find someone to buy it.

You try to go on Text Chat/Zone Chat, except you can't because you play on console.
You try to go on the forums to find a trade partner. Mods lock the thread less than 5 minutes later because they don't care the trade system is broken like this.
You go to a third party website to find a trade partner, only to get 0 responses due to barely anybody else using said website.

1 of 3 things will happen at this point:

1) You eventually decide that it's hopeless and destroy the item to free up inventory space.

5 seconds later someone enters the area and asks around for the very item you just destroyed, offering a ***-ton of gold in exchange for it.

2) You sell the item for almost nothing or straight up give it away so you can just get rid of it.

5 seconds later someone enters the area and asks around for the very item you just destroyed, offering a ***-ton of gold in exchange for it.

3) You semi-permanently sacrifice an inventory slot to keep the item even though you might never sell it.

----

What I hate most about this is that the last time I brought this up on the forums 90% of the people who responded had an allergic reaction to the post and started insulting me because they disagreed.

Have you tried multiple trade guilds? I'm in four, and the oldest item I haven't sold is four days old.

I believe a lot of the reasons why you can join multiple guilds is for this very reason. Look for some trade guilds, join one or more of them, and you'll find you have access to a vender otherwise that trade guild won't last long.

This way you can have a guild with your friends, a PvE guild, a PvP guild, and still room for two trade guilds if that's how you want to spread it around. Of course you do not have to and many guilds do multiple things, but that only further allows you to join more trade guilds.

Trade in this game is a bit different, but easily manageable once you play the system as its meant to in this game instead of relying on one friendly guild like most other games are. At least that's what I've encountered with my experience. Hope this helps!

I have 2 bank alt's for the misc stuff I am remotely aware can be sold. I'm also in 4 trade guilds and 1 that's a bunch of friends and slowly growing.

Selling item's really isn't so bad, you just need to play inventory tetris at times and use bank alts for extra space. If you cannot afford the gold to do so, go stealing stuff and cracking safes for a few hours. that will solve your inventory crisis for all your characters.

While I do agree it can be rather inconvieniant at times, but. *grabs old man cane* Back in my day, we used to cross two oceans on two 20 min boat rides, another 20 on foot, and a another 20 in shouts to sell our wares! And that was when you didn't lag through the boat, crash on the way, or die on the way!

Convenience over the years has made a lot of the older gamers lazy, and the newer ones entitled to luxuries that they think they must have or all is lost and impossible. A little legwork never killed anyone, it just made them big profits over the people who were too lazy to do it.

You see those npc merchants walking the roads between towns? I bet they make good gold doing that. Trade routes my friend!

Are you playing Xbox NA by chance? If so then would you be willing to invite me to a guild with a trader? I've joined a couple of guilds with "trading" in the name, one of which has over 100 members yet no trader. I have the same problem as the OP, sitting on a handful of valuables that I have a hard time selling.

I sure am. What's your Gamertag? I'll send invites tonight. All of my guilds have traders. I can only invite you to three but still give you the Gamertag of the GM of the 4th so you can apply.

    Here's how trading really works...

    Over priced item here

    Over priced item over there

    Over priced item every where

One correctly and resonable priced item sold by that one guy who wants a real fair trade system.
