Levelling up surge

I just unlocked surge but I'm a sorc and I need to level it up to its other morph (power surge). But that skill seems to take ages to rise! Do I need to use it in order to level it up or is it enough to just keep it slotted?

Slonekb05✭✭✭leveling any skill in this game has nothing to do with using it. As long as its on the current ability bar when you kill/turn in quests/ etc. you gain xp towards it.1 -

✭✭✭^That. Don't even have to have it on your bar at all times, can just slot it in as you give in quests and still get some nice xp. Generally the closer the skills are to the end of the skilltree, the harder they are to train.
I don't think Surge is worth it any more though.0
