No npc voices and can't see armour

First started running through the beginning of the game and none of the npcs were talking so I restarted the game. That issue was resolved but now my armour and weapons graphics haven't changed at all today even when equipping new stuff and I can't see my helmet at all and I haven't set the game to show no helmet as I know you can in the options
