Black Screens & Game Crashes!!

When I push play it opens the game to a black screen with my mouse icon constantly in the loading position, when i click on the screen it turns grey and says ESO is not responding.

I've followed every step on this article with no success http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/928118#Comment_928118 (besides steps #6 and #7 as these files don't seem to even exist in that folder)

I'm guessing it has something to do with the absence of these files but not too sure, I ran a repair on the launcher as well and it came up fine with no missing files etc. (besides this issue I'm having)

Have you tried running the Launcher as in Administrator mode?
Did you try with both firewall and antivirus turned off momentarily?

I sometimes get that too on Windows 7 if I click the window while it's doing the initial load on the black screen. For me, if I choose the wait for the application to respond option, it typically does so. I don't see that message if I don't click on the screen during the initial load. I think it just takes an abnormally long time and Windows thinks the application has hung.

If you're missing your UserSettings.txt file, this can be a reason you're launching to a black screen.

If the game is not loading correctly when you press play, one of the reasons could be an issue with the game settings. If the file that contains them hasn't been updated/created, it may stop the game from launching.

To check, please head to My Documents and look for the Elder Scrolls Online folder. Inside will be either live if you're playing on the US Megaserver, or liveeu if you're playing on the EU Megaserver. Inside this folder should be a text file called 'UserSettings'.

If the file is not present, please right click and choose 'New' then 'Text Document'. Name the file 'UserSettings', making sure to capitalize the U and the S. If you have file extensions enabled (so you see .jpg after a picture etc.) please make sure to call it 'UserSettings.txt'. If you do not see the .txt on other text files in the folder, you do not have this option enabled.

Once you have the file, please open it and remove any contents so that it's empty. Once you've done that, copy and paste the settings below into the file and save it.

Once you've copied the above into a text file, without space above or below, save it. When you press play, the game should now load correctly!

I was having this problem and nothing i did would help. I just installed windows 10 the other day and havent had a crash..
