The Last Radiant Destruction Thread

At first I was surprised that after 10 or so hours of update 6 being live we had yet to see a forum post about Radiant Destruction. Now, I can feel it in my bones, that hundreds of new threads, all asking for this ability to be nerfed and crying about how OP it may or may not be, are about to fill the entire forum.

In this instance, now that a handful of threads have been started, I feel the need to say a few words and voice my own concerns...

1. The LOS of this ability IS completely broken, I will say that. Targeting an enemy and blasting away, the enemy breaks line of sight-> Never breaks beam or stops damage...

2. Want to get away or close the gap? Try Force Pulse or a similar skill! This ability eats a ton of Magicka, just saying...

3. The fact that this ability has the potential to do devastating damage does NOT make it OP. Look at 'Snipe', even though it isn't channeled it still causes a metric crap ton of devastating damage, several other abilities are the same way!

4. Radiant Destruction does have several counters! Get out there and experiment! Find ways to nullify this ability and shove it up a Templars nose! (It CAN be done!)

Lastly, we know... We all know how much some of you are hating this ability, but we were all able to adapt to Focused Aim and Snipe arrow spam.

So before all of you flood the forum with your rants of rage and tears of torment, JUST SAVE IT!
Rethink your strategy and adapt. Find the niche that fits your own play style and own that ****!!!

    It popped up in my death recap quite a bit, but I knew it was because it's a new ability and people are spamming it like crazy. I do take issue with the fact that I can't use Dark Cloak to break it, or LOS. There are counters to it.

    That being said, I do feel it's going to be getting fixed very soon.

We've confirmed that there is not a damage-stacking bug with the ability, but there is a bug that is allowing Radiant Destruction to deal full execute damage on a target much earlier than is intended. We're testing a fix now, and hope to have it in the next incremental patch.

    the Skill is OP

    However, As a Sorc, i have yet to be killed by it, but my shield stack is a lot and pretty much protects me from this skill making it useless to use it on me. However, i could see certain DK, NB and such builds, tanks in particular being very vulnerable to this skill. Considering their are bugged traits allowing 100% ignore of spell resist, its just not a good mix, and keeping shields up is integral to my survival, it just happens to be a very good counter to RD as well.

    Just because a skill has counters doesn't mean its not OP. Snipe was OP, its why it was slightly nerfed in 1.6 because it was too good.

    Furthermore, you can't LOS RD which is absolute BS period, if it wasn't for me speccing into high value stack damage shields, I would be getting melted like everyone else because not only does it do a lot of damage and start at 50%, but it can't even be LOS like every other range and channell.

    Tl;dr really weigh the fun you have in game vs the business practices you are supporting.

    If Snipe had bright glowy lines in 1.5, it would eclipse the sun with its brightness. Just sayin'.

    Anyway the damage modifier is getting toned down soon. Personally I never use it unless the target is sub-25% anyway when you are basically dead no matter what, so the change won't matter much to me, but it should please the masses.

    The only other thing I think could use a tweak would be the range. 28m (35+ in Cyro) is very far. But then again I feel the same for Lethal Arrow

    Bruh, what? Do you understand how channeled beams work in this game? You cannot dodge roll out of it, you continue to take full dmg. Please don't try and tell me you've never been soul assaulted.

    Buddy, no one is defending the bug. They are defending people calling it OP for other reasons. L2Read issue I think. We all are fully aware of Jessica's post and you'll see no one defending it. You will see people defending its damage in terms of dps in low health cases as many have posted screenshots about, or other mechanics. The damage capability of the skill is being called OP, its not... regardless of where it triggers the actual damage is fine. Once they fix the time in which it kicks in it'll be fine, but many of the complaints in these threads about it being OP won't change because its not the bug causing that (and thus some of us are trying to address it).

    While on my NB I dodge rolled away from RD, dropped cloak and was way out of range and it still burned me down. It didn't break until I was dead. Yes, I need to work on countering it but a few of the methods stated to break it don't work at the moment. I guess I can counter snipe it and hope I can stun the caster before turning to ashes. Probably should just ambush and bash.

    L2P is a factor along with NWAI.

    TL;DR version

    P.S. Radiant Destruction threads are funnier than snipe, impulse and flappy flap threads put together.
    Been here since Feb 2014 - You'd think I'd be half reasonable at this game by now...

    Force Pulse from the Destro Staff seems to work wonders on stunning and then allowing you to close the gap. By the time you get to the Templar in question its 0 Magicka and Burn 'em Down!

    @Teargrants yes you are right about the roll dodge, I amended to reflect my original intention to get people thinking about ways to combat the ability.

    They need to fix the LOS issue, I have yet to see it in my kill log, but it should be LOS like any other ranged attack.

    Seriously. This has to be the 5th time the correct response has been posted in this thread. Every channel goes through LOS during the cast, as does every spell/skill that has already been casted and is traveling.
