Will there ever be an Elder Scrolls VI?

Will there ever be an Elder Scrolls VI - solo sequel to Skyrim?
I would think not, since it would compete with ESO. The solo PVE portion, anyway.

No. If that's what you want to think.

No local warcraft the last 10 years.... No KOTOR... Really hope I am wrong but I doubt we will see an Elder Scrolls if ESO is still online :(

If they release ES VI then they will be competing with themselves for console players, and the players that moved to VI would most likely quit their "Plus" Membership.

Well, I suppose TES VI will be out in later 2016 or beginning 2017 (not because ESO, mainly because Fallout 4. By that time, I really doubt ESO will continue online. At least it will be f2p and there will be no impact.

Do you really think ESO will continue being b2p around 2016-2017? Cmon people...

Yes. Eventually. As well or poorly as you may believe ESO's been doing, the single player games are still their bread and butter.

Just, remember, there were six years between Oblivion and Skyrim. Also, ESO was developed by a different dev team from Skyrim. If they intended to just fold the development studio into the MMO, they would have been eaten by the project then.

We'll probably see TES 6 in 2018 or so.

Yeah, I miss the Warcraft games... :(

TOR might be a bad example though. That was EA looking at WoW, and saying, "we want those numbers, let's just throw money at it until more money comes out." They never had any intention of making a KotOR3. If they had, it would have gotten pumped out back in 2005 or so. That engine may look crappy, but setting up content in it is fast.

IMO - TES VI is already in the pipeline, but it will probably be the last single player TES game. It will also be the most pirated TES game, because so many people will be mad at the franchise over ESO.

I'm just going to wait for someone else to buy it and when they get bored with it I will play it for free

"Rumours" and "sources" but never denied by Bethesda, so it seems probable. Hardest part for Bethesda is deciding whether PC is worth the trouble given the market share and rampant pirating.

Of course there will be a TES VI. No way would ZMI let such a high grossing franchise die.
Comparing the situation with WoW is a bit off, Blizzard is one comany, whereas ZMI has 2 subsidiaries, Bethesda and ZOS. Only ZOS is working on ESO, whereas Bethesda is working on... something else they won't specify, though they're calling it their "biggest project yet". It could be TES VI, Fallout 4, or some new IP.
I'm a man of few words. Any questions?

Not sure why you're speculating here, these aren't the Bethesda forums and God forbid ZOS ever have anything to do with real TES games.

It's worth it to them because they always create a very mod friendly game, which allows for the crowd sourcing of improvements. They can then see what mods \ improvements are popular with the fanbase and incorporate something similar into DLC or their next game.

But I won't argue the point over the money, most games make more on console than they do on PC release. I have read that there is a trend back towards PC gaming, since PCs \ laptops are so cheap and most people need one anyway, but I don't think that trend has had much affect on console vs PC sales to date.

I posted an opinion on this topic months ago, I think traditional single player games will eventually become the minority, as online \ MMO becomes the preferred method of "content distribution." There's too many reasons for a company to want players connected to a server for them to keep releasing single player \ stand alone games. TES VI will probably be the last stand alone TES game.

See, there's a reason why government departments and others trot out the "we never discuss xxx", people take a refusal to give credibility to rumours (by either admitting or denying them) as a tacit admission of it being true .. why should Bethesda comment on something some blogger pulled out from where the sun didn't shine, no doubt trying to provoke the reaction you're looking for.

    Hi there, @Tomg999.
Rest assured that our sister studio, Bethesda, will continue making great single player TES games. That said, this is a thread which is related to the Elder Scrolls franchise as a whole, rather than ESO. This forum, particularly the General Discussion section, is meant for discussing only The Elder Scrolls Online, and as such, we will be closing this thread.

If you all would like to discuss this topic in an area which is more appropriate, the official Bethesda Softworks forums do have a Series Discussion section for The Elder Scrolls Series. You can find that forum here: http://forums.bethsoft.com/forum/26-the-elder-scrolls-series-discussion/.
