Although this post will likely be removed, I am writing to inform all that I have canceled my sub for this game. I have 81 days left and I seriously doubt I will be shelling out another $80 to play for another 6 months.
The game has been an utter disappointment from the get go. The leveling is slow and boring, quests take too long, are not very interesting. Dungeons leave a lot to be desired, for example you can't really queue for them, so unless you run with a solid guild or group of friends, which I don't, you can't do them. That goes double for trials.
PvP, while entertaining at the start is monotonous and has too many problems. All the bugs that have been in PvP are just too much to deal with. After a week of crashing repeatedly, which screws up my Alliances progress, having issues with game mechanics like my character running around like he is holding a sword even though it has been sheathed, losing the ability to use my skills during combat for no apparent reason and the game not responding to the commands I am giving i.e. standing in front of doors slamming the "E" key and still not being granted entry.... assuming the option to enter even shows on the screen.... well, I just can't stand that any longer.
I have absolutely no desire to level an alternate character since I burned out of the PvW content when I realized that the other alliances quests were equally as boring and draining as the first I had played through. You can't put someone through the same damn game 3 times over and expect that to be an answer to providing interesting content. I just can't even stand the thought of completing all the quests in the other two alliances, just seems like such an unbearable waste of life that I wouldn't even consider doing them, even if it gave some significant reward above and beyond gaining a title, which it does not.
I could go on but I feel like I am providing a litany of complaints that have already been brought forward by the community at large. I think the one thing I would say to sum this all up is that for the last 3 months I feel that I have been paying someone to develop a game.... which would be fine if it had worked in the first place and had content that was engaging and entertaining, but this one does not. I understand you have bills to pay but this is a results business and from what I have experienced so far the results of this game are well under par for a major title.
You gave us a couple free days in the beginning to make up for your shortcomings, it should have been a few months. Myself and many others ponied up well over $200 to be able to access the game early, have bonus content and pre-pay for game time that was not usable. Giving a few days of time that will be used up quickly due to the fact the people are not here playing 24/7 is not enough. I might have even been satisfied with a free month of game time but your corporate masters were too greedy to even provide that, HUGE disappointment in my book. There is nothing worse that having a bad experience and then being even more disappointed by the effort to correct a wrong, which there was clearly one acknowledged by your organization.
Frankly speaking this is a trend in PC gaming that is disturbing and shows how corporate greed and disillusionment has crept into the PC game development arena. I will use Battlefield 4 as another example, they asked us to buy the premium product and unlock content in advance, for a premium price and delivered a broken product. My experience here with ESO has not been much different. You cannot expect us to pay for something that doesn't work, doesn't deliver on promises, is disappointing from the start and continues to provide little to no incentive to progress.
If you are going to shove a game out the door and expect people to pay for it you had better be ready to endure the consequences of a negative reaction from the PC gaming community, which is already dwindling due to the uptake and popularity of consoles. We are enthusiasts that are of a dying breed and when you deliver a disappointment to the level of which ESO has been, you will drive us away from your product quickly and die a short, quiet corporate extinction.
