Reddit is similar to every other social networking site. It's got it's own share of idiots and trolls. Personally I think the official forums should get primary attention, then if they feel like it they can copy/paste into other locations.

Not much point in having an official site if it's not being used to capacity.

Considering I pointed out two big fallacies with two of the bigger examples I've seen lately about reddit, I don't think I missed the point.

I use both sites and find useful information on both, though I do find more useful info not from ZoS employees on other sites than this one.

If you worked for me working customer service/social media and I ran ZoS I would definitely have you spending a given amount of time on a site like reddit. That might mean you would miss a question on one site or the other when you were on one of the two and answer it wherever you are at. It happens. Do what reddit does, publish a thread and link to it, they don't cry that info is posted somewhere else, they post it and link it.

That subreddit is run pretty well compared to some other as well. They have all the ZoS folks tagged so they stand out, they allow any sort of self promotion, something most subreddits forbid, etc. It's a solid community and people should quit whining about ZoS actually responding to customers just b/c it wasn't on this forum.

Another post made by an apologist using apologist approved jargon like whining. You did miss the point. I am not debating the merits of using social media. I am not asking you to apologize for why they fail to communicate here on the official forums. I am asking if we are better served by communicating there since given the evidence, they are more apt to reply there.

Well, twice you've not listened to what I said or you would have caught the point about both the big things people "whined" about here lately were actually info on this site first, not reddit. Though I'm sure some info has appeared on reddit first, especially when they do an AMA (interview/ Q&A type thing).

But you have my opinion, I have yours. Don't care if you want to stay upset over it.

Well, maybe if the Reddit community didn't show a consistent ability to be more thoughtful and respectful in their replies than this community, ZO would probably spend more time here.

Reddit is HEAVILY monitored and self-policed by it's posters and rating system. You cannot cause trouble or you never post there again. Stop thinking they are all reasonable people all the time. It would be the same mess there as anywhere else if not for how those boards are managed.

Our stance is that we answer what questions we can as we come across them, or as they're sent to us. If our team sees a question we're able to answer on a site we have an official account on, we answer it. We also read quite a few sites in addition to the official forums.

We do consider the official ESO forums our priority and primary site for communication, but that doesn't mean we won't answer a question on Reddit, MMORPG.com, TESO Elite, or any other fansite we have a presence on just because it isn't our official forums. You'll notice we always post big updates here, such as the Templar and Stamina skills updates we shared last week. If you compare our posts here via the dev tracker, you'll find we post significantly more on the official forums than anywhere else combined; suggesting otherwise is simply not true.

The reality is, there may be times we post an answer to something elsewhere before we do here. It isn't us showing preferential treatment; rather, that is simply where we happened upon the question first.

Thank you for the honest reply and information. Perception is that the same questions asked here are answered elsewhere because the presence on those sites is more noticeable with the individual responses from ZOS staff. The interaction with that community is far greater than here seemingly.

You're welcome. And nope, that's not the case at all. We often have multiple tabs open all day, checking in here, and on multiple fan communities. It's just a matter of timing and where we see a question first. There's no nefarious strategy behind it. If anything, our posts are the most noticable here because of our handy dev tracker.

I don't mean to play Devil's Advocate but I remember the time of the Vamp OPness in pvp, the forums were filled with threads and posts with no answer and the answer came from reddit, with someone from reddit pasting it to the forums :open_mouth:

I agree with you. There is something that does not add up in what she is saying when looking back at examples. However, I feel that this could be a new start. The response was quick in this thread. Let's see if communication changes or if reddit and other social media get more facetime than the official forums.

I think you are spreading yourself too thin then and are in desperate need of more personnel working exclusively on your official boards. Interaction with the community here is still at such a low level, it sometimes feels like the board's only purpose is to pose as a trash bin to dump our complains into and then leave them to rot.

Yes, it's not the biggest group nor widest reach to your customers. And yes, most people come here when they have some kind of problem or complaint with the game. But that right there is the very reason why you should put much more effort into community building and actively working at providing a more welcoming atmosphere.

Official boards and it's communities are mulitipliers when it comes to customer satisfaction. Currently, these boards are doing you a disservice.

Speak for yourself. This is not true. Zenimax is doing an great service by reaching out to the ESO important communities as as well as answering here.

The atmosphere of any forum is set by the users. Moderators can only moderate. What is posted is not Zenimax fault? Where did you......
Zenimax are putting a lot of effort here. Your statement that they do not, is not true.

Read the Green answer in this post. The fact alone that we get an answer, very fast, by a user who is "complaining" but doing so in a constructive manner, is proof enough.

As stated, we have a DEV tracker. Compare that to the Dev tracker on Reddit, and you find more here.
The dev tracker on Reddit, in most cases link their info from a post made here.

You may simply just got the wrong impression.

I am very thankful for our Zenimax communicators answer to this post.
This clears up a concern I had that we would loose our input here.
Now, I know that our input, like adding jerkings, is feedback Zenimax will continue to view.

    @Mablung
Thanks for your post man. You may find this odd coming from me, but I am on your side here. I would post this question myself, but you know what happens when I say anything here....

I do think Zenimax are communicating very well with us, and if it happens to be posted 5 second, 5 hours or whatever somewhere else before here, is unimportant.

As long as DEVS statements, facts, patches and other information that is connected to ESO right now, like LIVE patches, and not just interviews, rumors or even answering a question on another site about anything. Then we get a really good service. Just like it we have today.

Good response. What I thought but nice to have the communication.

    @drogon1
Agree, I was hoping that it was just a matter of timing, but had my concerns Zenimax would lower their communications with us here.

Those concerns are now gone =).

worst in slot: what you read in zone chat, and forum comment, and forum thread, and you tube video, and live streamer advice, and class rep advice, and guild chat advice, and whisper told you to wear, and use for skill, and dress like, and use for weapon and armor.

Usually they do and I am happy about that, I am talking (as clearly shown by the part I made bold in my own post) about the rare moments they mess up. I just want them to take more care about making sure we get to hear it as well.

First of all, how did you come under the impression I was speaking for anyone else, but me?

Second, I know community interaction here is very low, because I've been member, moderator and admin on many boards out there. Hence I know that when and how you moderate, how you set up or layout your board and how much and in which way you interact with your community has a very strong effect on how it will evolve.

First, um, mistake of my part. It "felt" like you spoke for "us". Again, I didn't even think I was just under the impression you did. I am sorry, and take that back.

It was this statement I reacted to:
But that right there is the very reason why you should put much more effort into community building and actively working at providing a more welcoming atmosphere.

Official boards and it's communities are mulitipliers when it comes to customer satisfaction. Currently, these boards are doing you a disservice.

I read this as: Zenimax is not doing enough to create a welcoming atmosphere.
And, the statement that they are spread to much.

Thats why I say that its us, users who create the atmosphere. Zenimax almost have nothing to do about that. Other then of course forum setup and moderation. Yes.

I am here pretty much daily, and what I see, Zenimax is putting in work here and how they work internally with their resources is not our concern.
In this case, its the communication, feedback and value of our opinions that I feel is important. And on all points, they deliver. But sure, everything can always get better!

This is my view and of course people can disagree with that.
I get a bit testy when I see a statement from a user that is not true, though.

I should have used a better tone towards you, sorry about that.

Just a suggestion: Is/Can there be way to add a Forum link of all the Dev's posts on this Forums: Dev Tracker -( Middle of the right side of forum page) from the other sites.

This would give not only the ESO Forums a localized place to glean information; But, also all of the other sites, you as Dev's work so hard to answer questions on.
