What's going to happen to Veteran Ranks in the future?

So incase you didn't know, after lvl 49 you start your veteran ranks, which go from VR1-VR10. Essentially lvl 50-60. My question is, what will happen to Veteran Ranks years down the road? Is ZoS just going to add more and more VR levels? So we'll have lvl 1-49 and VR1-VR30? That seems stupid. Which brings me to my next question...

Why do we have veteran ranks at ALL? Why isn't it just lvl 1-60, and 50-60 takes significantly longer to level? Sort of like what Rift does. The whole VR premise seems a bit stupid, honestly. I'm not saying playing through the other factions is stupid. Just the actual VR level system itself.

Veteran ranks was obviously something they implemented because they didnt have time to have any endgame ready at all. It was a last minute time sink to keep the problems at bay.
And yes it will be stupid if they keep expanding on it. I think it scares off a lot of people that dont want to spend the first couple of houndreds of hours questing to get to max level.

I honestly feel that they should just totally do away with Veteran Ranks, and implement a standard 1-60+ level system.

What difference does it make really?

You clearly have nothing against how it works , just about its name? Why does its name even matter?

And no , VR are not like lvls. When you go up a VR lvl you dont get stats or skill points.

You don't get new stat points with veteran ranks. So, I see it more like an additional dimension to Level 50.
I would expect that in future, ZoS will prepare a major patch (like 2.0) which would consist of a content enabling to get 51+ levels.

Right now, it's not a big deal. But once we have an extra 20 or so VR's to go through, it will seem kind of stupid. Like the other poster said, it seems like a last minute thing ZoS did to tide us over due to lack of end-game content.

Ofcourse it was :) They had 3 dungeons ready for VR10, each of wich can be completed in under 15 minutes. It took the first people less the 24 hours to reach level 50. Furthermore just look at how bad it all ties together storywise. It is a really bad excuse they use for you to go to the other factions. I completely lost whatever interrest i had in the story by that point.

I for one actually enjoy VR levelling. I get to play through the whole storyline content of the game without having to reroll. And while you don't get anything for a VR level up, I would like to reming everyone that you can collect all of those skyshards. There is a big difference between having 100ish or almost 300 skillpoints to use! Unless you're fine with just the 100, I am not, I have all crafts at max and still need to have a few points to use my class skills and at least two weapons.

The fact that they've decided Craglorn should start at VR10 and not VR1 is also kinda stupid.

Very true. That kind of makes me worry that they may plan on milking this VR thing for quite some time.

Main difference between veteran and normal ranks is that you level far slower in veteran and you don't get the selectable attribute bonus or skill point.

Veteran level is an way to drag out the endgame. Its a more thought out system than wow who uses gear level in practice.
you quest to level 90, then you do normal dungeons to get better gear, then you do heroic dungeons for better gear, then random raids and finally normal raids.

However I agree with you that questing or grinding should not be primary way to level veteran, dungeons and PvP should be primary.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

For all the people that keep saying they aren't actual levels, please stop being so ignorant.. if they weren't levels you wouldn't need them to equip higher lvl gear e.g vr1 gear vr3 gear vr10 gear.

Not only will you need these levels to do Craglorn but you will need to gain the 3 extra levels they are implementing with graglorn patch (VR13) to wear craglorn gear.

So please tell me again how these are not actually levels.

And to put everything into perspective VR1-5 has as much content as 1-50 except mob kills give you absoloutely NOTHING so you have to scour the maps and do every quest/event/boss/public dungeon in the 5 zones it takes to go VR1-5 only the mobs take twice as long to kill, and then repeat again for vr5-10

Also anyone that looked forward to playing through another factions story on an alt after they hit 50... no point in doing that as you HAVE to play through both other factions entire story to go from vr1-10

level cap is currently 150 and will be 180 with craglorn release.

VR10 is like lvl150, not lvl60. Craglorn gives +2 new levels, so the cap will be increased to VR12. In the later patches more cap increases will come, this is what will happen in the future.

For me VR is where the game started really, the leveling from 1 to 50 was so damn easy that I only died when I pulled more then one group and still I could sometimes manage. I didnt need to repair my gear at all due to the constant drops of gear will you leveled.

But on VR things changed and are far more challenging and rewarding if you get something difficult done.

So I hope they keep on expanding it and add more challenging content in the future.

And I like to see the other zones with my main instead of having to level another toon on easy mode 1-50.

Hopefully they will kill VR content with holy cleansing fire and then slap the snot out of the person or persons that thought it would be a good idea.

Then they will add actual end game content not this lazy tacked on horse urine.

I hope they will remove VR, and just let everything be max lvl 50. Doubt it will happen, but I wont be returning until that is done I think.

I like the idea of Veteran mode but sometimes challenge are really too high some bosses are really impossible to kill. Well i was a vamp (taken high damage with fire) melee and i beat the game now i'm OP :)

Sorry if somebody mentioned this already but I'm too sleepy to read everything today. But think of it like this...
What's the biggest issue MMOs face once they hit old age? New players not being able to quickly get to the end game. The current status quo has been to offer a 1 time free instant power level to the character of your choice. Now with the Veteran ranks, which I like to think of as disposable levels, they can say an expansion or 2 down the line that VR 1-12 (or whatever it's at then) are no longer mandatory(but maybe have an achievement or something for them) and let people stroll right on past them to the current set of VRs that let's say start at lvl 60.
Maybe this isn't what they had in mind at all... But that's sure how I'd use them.

You got your wish. VR's will be gone soon.
