I believe I have over-Alted myself :S

Hullo.
I am an Alt-o-holic in every game i play and ESO is no exception.
The trouble is i think i have done it a little hard in ESO and i'm almost worn out of making new characters.

I have even gone to the levels of making a new character, levelling them to about 20ish, then getting bored with them and then either creating a new one or deleting an old one that i'm even more bored with and levelling them up and the cycle keeps repeating itself.

As it stands currently my character line up is...

42 Orc Templar 2handed(AD)
44 Breton Nightblade Heavy armoured siphon tank (EP)
34 Orc Nightblade Bow (EP)
25 Dark Elf Sorceror Bow (AD)
16 Wood Elf Nightblade siphon tank/staff (AD)
26 Orc Dragonknight Shield/staff (AD)
43 Wood Elf Templar Bow (DC)

Now i cannot decide which character character to use. Often i login play around for about 15 minutes. then a thought hits me.. "Hmm.. maybe i should level that other char instead?.." or something then i get entirely unfocused.

What should i do? I know the sensible thing would be to just pick a character and stick with it. but but but....

Wow, I'm impressed you got that far with so many alts! I'm leveling 3 myself, and that takes some juggling. I think it's easiest when they're on the same general level, so they get similar crafting materials. Otherwise, inventory becomes a pain... Maybe assign each a game night! Heh. Mondays/Tuesdays for Orcs... Thursdays/Fridays for Elves... - I'm clearly no help in recovering from alt-syndrom

I begin to suspect I suffer from some sort of attention deficiency disorder, because I can not for the love of Akatosh concentrate on a main character. I hear there are people out there who have only made the one character and they are sticking with it. Weird, if you ask me

It could be argued that the entire point of the concept of "play" is to escape from the tyranny of the concept of "sensible"

I only have four characters at the moment, but the concepts for two more are whispering in my ear, desiring to be created. Eventually I'll probably establish some kind of rotation.

That DK character for instance even though they're only level 26 has been respecced about 8 times because i cannot decide what i want to do with them or how i want it to play like (or picking morphs which turn out to suck).

My faveourite character is prolly my breton siphon tank. It's just a lot of fun and i love the design of breton armour.

Awesome thread and characters. Love every one of them. I have 3 alts as well and it definitely takes some juggling. I also try to keep at least 2 of them close to the same level.

As far as how to stay focused on one I simply come up with a goal for each one. Sometimes I'll decide this after logging in, other times I already know what I want to do and with which character.

Like the idea of Orcs/Elves night out. Not sure I'm disciplined enough to do that but at least its another way to kind of stay focused.

I have four characters, one of each class, I alternate between them, levelling them slowly. Now if only their was four factions, oh well, I'll just have to repeat the Aldmeri Dominion.

I try and have an RP theme in my mind for all my characters that decides what faction they'll be in and what armour/weapons they'll us.
Hence why i have a lot of Orsimer chars in AD because i like the juxtaposition or the race/faction.

I'm a one play through type of person. I just have one character at VR4.

Not sure if it would help but what works for me is I have one character I only play while recording. It seems to help me keep focus on that guy and I don't get burned out since I have to be recording to play him.

That said I do have 7 alts with one of them Vet rank 1. The other nice thing about recording is you can watch fights and see what worked and what did not.

Goal :: Finish AD storyline + Master Clothing / Woodworking / Enchanting

Secondary ::
Orc / DK / DC
Goal :: Finish DC storyline + Master Blacksmithing / Provisioning / Alchemy

Others :: Hireling Alts

Once those 2 are finished, I'll delete an alt and move on to the EP (probably a Sorceror, not fixed on a race yet)

Crafting goals are a good focus + they're mighty useful for your other characters

Altaholism should probably be a recognized syndrome! there have been studies of gamers being 'addicted' to games* but I do not recall any that included altaholism. Maybe someone should make such a study! This is no laughing matter.

Anyways! I've not yet filled all my character slots or levelled any characters past 16. I am trying, in TESO, to not overdo it with the characters / alts. I do admit to deleting a character to make another though and at least one of my characters is in line for deletion (unless it plays well next time I use it).

In other games, I have been known to level many alts to mid point and (or) level cap.

In one particular game based on a series of books that is well loved, I have had all character slots full and levelled from mid to level cap on several servers and I have several accounts (one paid (lifer if memory serves) and others F2P).

Over alting? Altaholic? Nah! If you enjoy it and it is not effecting your life or anyone else badly - go for it.

haha! I'm the same and I always hate it when I have to sell a horse... It's a problem. Or not so much.. but until now I have thought of myself as a bit of a weirdo. It's good to know I'm not alone.

I'm slightly worse though, as so far I have had as many characters if not more and I am yet to level a Sorcerer past 10 or Dragonknight past 30. I am however an expert on AD starting zones and Nightblade builds . It's a fine art now.

I'm trying to restrict myself to 2 alts at the moment, and I have to admit, the temptation is bad sometimes.

I've been swapping back and forth between my two mains every 5 levels.

I had 14 level 90's in MoP not to mention several 85's in cata, 80's in cata and even 3 70's in BC.

In this game I've got a Veteran Rank 2 Nightblade, Veteran Rank 4 Templar, level 42 Dragon Knight that ZOS sort of ruined for me when they nerfed the crap out of Werewolf with that latest "fix" and now a level 25 Nightblade

I have a Vet 2 night blades medium armor dual weild/bow. Clothing and wood working, A level 19 night blade tank Blacksmithing and a level 14 Templar healer also clothing. Alts are fun

sounds like you had a good time playing around with all the classes, I made some wonderful looking alts and would dearly love to play them but I just dont have the time to work on any but my main. I am however, feeding their horses 'just in case' and look forward to trying out a whole new class

4 alts, V1 Breton Sorc, L40 AD Temp, L39 EP DK, L12 DC NB. At this time, not sure which is main, don't want to grind VR, don't want to do coldharbour again and again neither.

Guess NB alt has more play time, just because its a new class for me

In LOTRO i have 10 characters all are past Moria hehe. (Must.. make.. more.. Hobbits...)

1 VR2, one VR1, few others. I spend a lot of time afk. All pact. I cant bear the thought of other factions only to do them in VR later
