Where are my crafting chests?

djwolfnrb19_ESO
After five days working on moving house I finally got to log on expecting to be greeted by five chests for each of my craftsmen... but no, they weren't there. Sorry, did the game world stop while I was away? Do I only pay my subscription for those days I am able to log on? This is not a single player game where everything stops if I hit pause or the world grinds to a halt if I don't log on. Therefore, I'm paying for those chests, where are they?

They got lost in the house moving.

Seriosly though, you need to log in between the chest to start the delivery timer again for the next one.

Why? You seem to be missing my point. This is a nasty policy that needs universal condemnation. I pay my subscription whether I log on or not. I paid for those chests. They are mine. I want them.

    Not nasty at all...
The hireling system is a just a minor part of the game...or did you pay your subscription fee just to get the hireling chests, now that would be bazaar :\
I was away for 7 days myself and as a result i am a bit behind my friends in character level...maybe I should complain that I didn't gain XP while I was away, after all I'm paying my sub still.
From another perspective, a lot of MMO's have mechanisms similar to this one to encourage players to frequently log into the game and play.

Synfaer, name one MMO that does this. Before you do that perhaps I should explain why your argument is flawed. XP is something I do in much the same way as purchasing horse upgrades. If I'm not in game I can't do it and my input and any rewards from that input will stop. However, the game moves on. Day turns to night. The helper I have purchased with my points continues just as the mailing system continues to function.

As for incentive to log on, without those chest waiting for me I have less motivation to log on. As for your opinion as to why I paid my subscription fee, I paid that fee to get what is mine. Okay?

Well, the timer on hirelings, is exactly like resting XP in the principle. You only get resting xp, while logging off.

Here, you'll only get your chest, if you log in once a day. Same basic principle, so hardly anything new.

Bare in mind, the chests are a plus thing. Although I agree that if any logic was followed, you'd get your chests everyday regardless of login on or not, but when snakes drop leather rather than scales, when you harvest spider silk from one specific plant only, and when crocodiles stop following you because they can not swim, you know... logic is a bit, absent in a MMO :).
"In 2014, a possible bot was sent to coldharbour by a military GM for a crime she didn't commit. This argonian promptly escaped from a maximum security stockade to the Ebonheart underground. Today, still wanted by the developers she survive as soldiers of fortune. If you have a bot problem, if no one else can bite you, and if you can find her....maybe you can hire The SQUISHY."

I have to agree with the OP, the current method of hireling delivery is very wrong (and needs adjusting)
My postman doesn't refuse to deliver my mail just because I haven't opened the mail from the previous day !

Hah good one, the mail just piles up in the letterbox while I'm away, and so should it be in the game.... yeah I agree with the OP :)

Now horses, well, they should need you to log in and make decision, in RL your Horse dies if you don't feed it yeah! Maybe we could pay a bit extra for a Stable Hand lol Just rehashing the Horse analogy djwolfnrb19_ESO ;)

I agree too with the OP. I didn't even consider the hirelings to NOT deliver content offline, so I was very surprised, to say the least, when I logged on after a few days away, and only found one chest from each hireling. A bit annoying.

It's clearly just an artificial mechanism for game companies to boost their daily login counts. Most MMOs have them, though at least doing 'dailies' is clearly different, though even there in FFXIV you get stack up to around 16 days worth of some of the daily content.

In spite of some specious arguments in other threads there is in fact no difference at all between someone logging in 7 times a week for 2 mins to get their mail and the same person logging in for 10 mins once a week.

Im supposed to get two of each chest per day on my main. I get one because the 12 hour timer is borked. Sorc gets two grocery boxes. DK gets enchanting, bs, cloth and ww. Other sorc gets ww and cloth.. mostly cloth because Pacrooti is slacking.

And the mails are sometimes only partially written leaving me to miss story.
