Staying Alive...

This is just a minor question, something I hoped some of the experienced player could answer for me.

Just recently I purchased the game, and after butchering my first character, made a second, and got him up to level 13. He's decently tanky in PvE, for his level, and I understood going into the Warfront that I was going to be at a severe disadvantage.

Still, I die within a couple of seconds if I get any kind of focus, and running never works either.

I understand that I've got to level up if I want to make more of an impact, but I was wondering this. At what level (for a tanky Dragonknight) are you able to begin actively contributing to the mass melees present in the Alliance War?

Do I have to hit Vet, or would high 40s work just as well?

Thank you very much for your input.

Well, anything you do contributes to the overall war effort, and you get awarded points. Expect to die alot, everyone does. You will start seeing yourself better when you get to your 30's. It doesent really matter so much what your build is, so long as you learn your character. You need to just keep practicing at it and you will naturally get better. Theres lvl 10's that can beat vets, so its reallly about player skill. But yeah short answer is youll start seeing improvement in your 30's.
If I am going to quote someone, it's going to be me.

and remember, a level 12 character does just as much damage with a siege weapon as a VR10 does

You can contribute at lvl 10. The main thing is not to be on the front lines because that will suck up all the healing. Contribute from the back ranks with a meatApult or healing, or buffing.

Well, everyone dies if they get focussed: maybe not so fast for a VR10 - but he still dies unless his opponents are useless.
Running away is no use at all. Once you turn your back you can't see what's coming and even a Sorcerer with Bolt Escape can be stopped and killed.
So that's two things to put on your list of things-not-to-do.

Another thing to add to that list is to roll a tanky melee character (sorry :) ) It's just entirely the wrong build for low-level PvP. Armour is pathetically useless and a melee weapon just puts you in the meat-grinder. You need a ranged character with lots of DPS.
You might like to consider just adapting your build to give you more power, less armour and a ranged weapon instead of a club.
'Clever' sigs get old real fast - just like this one.

I'm pleasantly surprised to find a low level player asking at what level their build will be more effective in PvP instead of simply flipping out and threatening to cancel when they die at level 12. You are a rarity, my friend.

A Veteran Rank player will be much stronger than non VR player. This is mainly due to skills unlocked/available and higher soft caps.

Basically to be successful as a lowbie in PvP stay in large groups and play more of a support role. You should get early access to some of the alliance war abilites to provide some very nice buffs to everyone around you.

I had same peoblem. I start play with tank Dk. Every few lvls i was keep going in cyrodil. Always had 8xx armor. Lvl 20 or lvl 49. Still 8xx armor. But as soon as i hit lvl 50 (veteran rank 1 ) my armor became 16xx and much more HP.

Without a few healers behind, few other DK around and few supporters you will always die fast.

If you group up and focus on harassing the enemy rather than trying to be a hero you can join pvp at lvl 10.

Damn Cydone already did that :|
