Seriously Long Load Times

Is anyone else getting the seriously long load times when logging in and trying to actually log into the game? This is getting ridiculous.

I got stuck in limbo several times in the last couple of days, not only logging in, but just doing zone transitions. I had to kill the game with the task manager and log back in in order to continue playing.

Hello, @HavocBringer. It'd be much appreciated if you could answer the following questions, so that we can investigate this.

• How long is "seriously long?"
• Does this happen in specific areas, or with specific characters, or does it happen every time?
• Are you able to eventually log in, or does it ultimately not let you log in?

How long is "seriously long?" - 5 minutes or more in some cases.

Does this happen in specific areas, or with specific characters, or does it happen every time? - Loading screen from character select most often. Several times it happened using a wayshrine or NPC portals during quests, such as the Sheogorath quests. It appears at random from what I can see thus far, with no correlation to characters that I can put a finger on. I'll try to keep track of that in the future, however.

Are you able to eventually log in, or does it ultimately not let you log in? - I end up having to use Task Manager to kill the ESO client and restart. Otherwise it just sits there.

Haven't encounter long load times. Max I seen was 1 min for Cyrodil.
ESO is on SSD.

Yeah, I only had one really long load time today and I was transitioning to an area for single player combat only for a quest. But after that everything was working fine again.

So not entirely sure it is a wide spread issue currently.

It seems to be happening more often since the last update. I've learned that if it doesn't load after about 5 minutes then it's probably not going to load (I let it sit there for over 15 mins once to check), so I just close the game and come back.

I've noticed it happening more often when I'm transitioning to or from a dungeon, usually during a quest. Though it also happened randomly a couple of times when I just tried loading my character.

I've also been getting disconnected from the server a lot lately; as in I can still move around in the game, but I can't interact with anything and nothing is registering my presence. I also can't log out. The only thing I can do is quit the game, and when I load back in I'll be back at whatever spot it went out of sync.

server side issue. give us a verbose loading screen so we can help debug this bs

edit: this is a critical issue, i always see it related to cyrodiil. i just lost 30+ min to this..

I seem to only get 1-2 minute loading screens when zoning in/out of Cyrodiil dungeons.

I'm not usually this masochistic, but for the sake of this thread, I waited through a 17min+ (not an exaggeration) loading screen into cyrodiil (Auriel's Bow) after getting an instant pop on the queue 21:42GMT. It is now 21:59GMT and still loading I will now return to my loop: alt+f4->login->load>alt-f4 like usual..

Edit: after I end up outside cyrodiil anway (on load)

I have had 5 minute loadtimes for small caves and unlimited loadtimes before.
On a Sata 6gb/s SSD. MMO's are mainly based on your internet speed if i am not mistaken.

Edit: But I hope ZOS works on improving loadtimes potentially by optimizing the stuff that you need to load to enter zones, or working with Nvidia and AMD to get better GPU support, which weirdly also has an effect on loadtimes, infact Nvidias current beta driver causes skyrim to load alot faster.

Can't believe after a month they have finally replied to one of these threads!
@ZOS_MichelleA‌ this has been going on since launch, there are numerous threads regarding loading into Cyrodil.
The problem is if you have this problem you can't play your main again for a while as it won't let you log back in. I have had times where I've take 30 minutes to log back in, this generally isn't back into Cyrodil but the Zone you were in when you ported to Cyrodil.
Already today, I have wasted about 2 hours+ (not an exageration) logging in, due to the crashes in Cyrodil and being unable after to log in.

Within some of the other threads regarding this issue there is advice recommending deleting files from the game to improve the issue I would love for you to answer if any of these would be recommended by Zenimax or if they may cause any other issues?

I'm getting this now .... i finally got into the game and died in cyradiil and now infinite load again..... it's the infinite load bug that's been around forever it's just really bad today for some reason..... like almost every load screen..... alt+f4 after like 5mins of loading or so.

Had this issue bad last night trying to get into Cyrodiil. First I couldn't get in with any character so played pve for about an hour. Finally got in with a character from Greenshade. Later I wanted to get in with one of my alts so I left Cyrodiil and put my Greenshade character back in Greenshade.

My next character I tried about 10 times zoning into Cyrodiil from Grahtwood. Endless load screens. About the tenth time it worked. Upon arrival I tried to travel to a keep and again, endless load screen. About the third time it worked.

The really odd thing was this morning when I logged into my Greenshade character he was NOT in Greenshade where I left him the night before. He was back in Cyrodiil!

Note:
*I very rarely ever had endless load screens before the last patch (or two. sorry I can't keep track). I never experienced crashes in Cyrodiil either and that is definitely a new thing for me since the last patch.

**I've found that if it doesn't load within a few minutes (1-4) than it's not going to. Waiting 5min-30min does nothing from my experience.

I have noticed longer loading times as well lately.
Mostly its when logging in from character selection, but it also happens when I exit from dungeons.
I had load times upwards of 5 minutes, thought I seem to have been spared the infinite loading problem so far.

I either get into cyrodiil straight away or I have to relog 4-5 times to finally get in. The load screen goes on and on, eventually chucking you back to the login screen. Nothing is happening on the computer, just the load screen and the spinning thing in the corner.

Got hit again trying to log in from character select. Got the box that states 'requesting character load' with the little spinning circle, and that was the end of that. After about 4 minutes or so, I had to kill the ESO process with Task Manager again.

I'm getting extremely long load times pretty regularly, myself. Seems totally random. I'll log into a zone instantly, then the next time I log in, it takes a few minutes. Most of the time if it takes over 30 seconds, I just kill task it and log in again, as that's faster.

The issue isn't related to PC performance - I have 2 SSDs in raid 0, with a separate SSD system disk, and 32GB of RAM and a GTX 780. There are no memory / load bottlenecks here. (Though I suppose it could be exaggerated by low performance, I don't know)


For the most part it seems like if I don't load a zone pretty much instantly - then it will sit there for a long time. It didn't do this to me previously, other than times where everyone was having terrible performance and long loads / login times. I guess it started a week ago or a little over a week ago.

The ESO Client is having intermittent trouble loading libraries and application lists. The client can sit there indefinitely trying to get to a state where I can hit play. I've seen this take over 30 minutes but generally I just force close the client and try again where either a) I get to hit play almost instantly or b) it tries to load libraries forever again.

I can't even load the game!! I sit on a loading screen with every now and then a sentence saying this may be a longer load time then normal or something like that, I have managed to play the game twice since the 9th!! Today I waited around an hour and nothing happened, so unfortunately I had to continue my day and go to work! It's now 2 am in the UK and I still can't load! My internet connection on the Xbox one is fine, it is just this game. I can't even get to character selection!
