locked out of game due to invalid codes

Ok, this has now happened to my husband on three different occasions, where he will be logged into the game and when he toon hops, he is locked out needing to get a validation code from his email. But the code that he does receive is invalid, and can't try again for 10 mins. Why is the game sending out invalid codes? He is now locked out of both his accounts, and yet this hasn't affected me in any way, and we are on the same network etc, and have not reset our router. Is this happening to anyone else? He managed to get into his account with the code they issued, but not into the game.
