Questing in group has drawbacks when talking/listening to quest givers

There are times when you need to interact with the quest NPC without other player's actions disrupting the action/story.

Tonight my group was on the quest "A Lasting Winter" but our enjoyment of the quest line was spoiled because we discovered too late that if one of us triggered off the next stage after talking with the quest NPC it cut through the other players interaction with that NPC and their dialogue was cut short and any options they might have been about to choose.

We were talking with the General inside the Frozen Vault: one of our group was trying persuasion but the rest of us didn't have that skill so had to take the other option to fight her. Just as his persuasive ability was about to get the mantle from her he suddenly found his dialogue cancelled and he was thrown into the middle of our fight as soon as we had clicked on that option.

There is nothing wrong with a group sharing a fight but I think NPC interaction should be independent so players get the fun of listening to what the NPC's have to say (and there is a lot of good humour as well as storyline dialogue) and be able to make their own decisions where options are available.
