Throttling issue when there's a lot of ppl on the screen

Hi!

I encounter an annoying issue when there's a lot of players/skill animations on my screen ( espescially in PvP): my graphic card seems to slow itself down. It becomes unplayable, the game stutters like hell..

When this happens, my GPU clock speed decreases from 901 MhZ (normal speed while gaming) to ~600-700 MhZ (Throttling!?).

I have an alienware 14, with a GTX 765m 2GO. Apart from that, the game runs smoothly on high (40-50 fps).
In burn, my temps don't go over 58°C.

It's really weird, 'caus I have this problem ONLY when there's a lot of players/skill animations on the screen...

I've tried unistalling drivers, installing beta/old ones, but nothing hepled :/.

Is anyone else having this issue?
Any idea on how to solve this!?

Thanks!! :)

Same here, yeah...but on an AMD, HD7850...you might be helpful in this thread of 760's, show them your logs:

A GPU should only slow down if its close to overheating, but this isn't a problem at 58 °c. Temperatures of 80 are totally ok for todays systems.

I would make sure that everything in your NVidia control center is set to program controlled so that TESO decided what settings should be used. It can happen that drivers are not optimized with games and this should help.

What you describe however are power states that your card has. Those are used to not stress your card if its not necessary and / or to protect your card from damage.

It could be that your current NVidia driver doesn't work so well with your card. Are you using the new one´s from last week or still old ones? It might be worth a try to change them.

    Edit:

Ah you already changed the drivers, sorry didn't see that. Hmm,+

You could force a power state for your card, but this is a bit difficult if you never did it. Are you firm with NVidia inspector?

I tried the new beta and the old ones, and nothing worked. I currently use the 335.23 drivers.

I'm familiar with NVidia inspector (overclocking), but i've never forced a power state. Well, if you tell me how to do it, I can try this out :)!

@Ilithyie‌ I think this is just an issue with the game at this point. I believe when there are many people around that the game because CPU limited. And, that causes less stress on your GPU. By design the GPU will downclock if the load is less. I have a desktop with an i7 980X and NVIDIA GTX 780 Ti. Running on ultra settings I see big fps drops in crowded areas and my GPU clock lowers accordingly.

I doubt there is anything wrong on your end. As others have stated, if you GPU temps were high that would be different. I just don't think this is a case of throttling.

I've just noticed that it also happens while i'm standing under a waterfall. If you could try and tell me if this happens to you too?

    Thanks :)!

    Hi,

I have found a nice tutorial on how it works. Much better than I could explain it myself ;)

    http://www.overclock.net/t/1267918/guide-nvidia-inspector-gtx670-680-disable-boost-fixed-clock-speed-undervolting

Just go for the MHz that are normal for your card, no need to overclock or anything its just for testing anyways.

What Jason said seems reasonable as well and I agree ;)

I tried but didn't work :s! Still "throttling".
I must have done something wrong, but I don't know what!

Anywho, I think you're right, I'll just wait until a hotfix is released :)!

    Thank you!! :)

    Seems like I found something..
I've disabled "SET ParticlesEnabled" in the UserSettings textfile (in Mydocuments)and now it runs pretty well... The thing is, if I disable particles, I can't see the skills animations anymore, which is really disturbing, espescially in PvP..
