Just out of curiosity, is anybody else respecting the Green Pact on their Bosmer?

The known conditions of the Green Pact are as follows:

Only meat-based products can be consumed.
Prohibits the use of wood or other vegetable derivatives as building materials.
Forbidden to harm trees and plant life for their own betterment.
Forbidden to smoke anything of a vegetable nature.

Part of the Green Pact is the Meat Mandate that dictates that a fallen enemy must be eaten completely before three days pass.

As far as ESO is concerned this means:
* You can't do alchemy, since you can't pick or use plant material.
* You can't do woodworking, since you can't damage trees for your own needs. I hope that bow you're using is made of bone and sinew! And forget those wooden shields!
* You can't eat or create foods unless they use non-plant material (re: meat)

-- Caveat: Technically you can use wood and plant products, as long as they don't come from Valenwood.

An interesting question also arises -- if you have to eat anything/anybody you kill within 3 days of killing them, you had better choose who you kill wisely, or invest in some bigger clothes! A life of adventure and slaughter is hard on a Bosmer's gut.

I met a vegetarian bosmer npc once. The horror! She tried to kill me shortly after though...

Makes provisioning a bit tricky too, I imagine, though not undoable. Just stick to medium and heavy armor. No bows, though, since even the Bosmer bone bows require wood in this game. :p

I've roleplayed this in the single player games. Might be interesting to try in ESO, but I haven't made a Bosmer out of beta yet. :)
I am Queen of Typos. If you don't see "Edited by BlackSparrow" above this line, please assume my account has been taken over by scamps and react accordingly.

    My Girls:
    "Elsweyr, yay or nay?"

Nephikah the Houseless, dunmer assassin: "If circumstances try to drive me there, maybe. Right now, it just sounds like a lot of sand in my boots."
Swum-Many-Waters, elderly argonian healer: "The simple thought of it dries my scales. I ventured into Elsweyr long ago, but I may be getting too old to make the journey again."
Silh'ki, khajiit warrior-chef: "This one looks forward to seeing her home sands again. Perhaps she will make her home village many fish sticks!"
Peregrine Huntress, bosmer hunter: "I could do much with a good dragon hide."
Lorenyawe, altmer mechanist: "I see little need to muck about some ancient tomb. Too much work to do elsewhere. No, that was not an intentional pun."
Lorelai Magpie, breton thief: "Stealing from the Ban Daar is always a fun challenge. Sometimes, they steal their stuff back!"
Rasheda the Burning Heart, redguard knight: "While I try to stay at Swum-Many-Waters' side, the whispers of an undead threat worry me."
Hex-Eye Azabi, khajiit daedric priestess: "Perhaps. The lady Mephala spins many webs, and I can see there being benefit in sending me into the path of an undead invasion."
Yngva Stormhammer, nord bandit (reformed...ish): "I hear there will be dragons. I would be a disappointment to my Nord heritage if I did not try to slay them."
Madam Argentia, dunmer aristocrat: "I have little desire to waltz across the desert for weeks at a time. It's terrible for the complexion."
Mazie gra-Bolga, orc scout: "Uh... I'm kinda busy up in Wrothgar, sorry!"
Felicia the Wanderer, imperial witch-for-hire: "The Khajiit usually throw some nice contracts my way. I'm sure Jimila will have something that will take me there."
Calico Jaka-dra, retired khajiit pirate: "This one is happy to check back on her homeland after grand adventures drew her away! Let the kittens call her -dra instead of -daro now!"
Shimmerbeam, blind altmer psijic: "My lady Meridia does detest the undead. I may need to sneak out on my duties on Artaeum to address it."

(Signature idea shamelessly stolen from Abeille.)

The green pact only applies to Valenwood. You can import vegetation from outside and use it...The lore is clear on the fact that they do use wood. Just not native wood. You can just pretend vendor are selling foreign wood. If you want to harvet yourself, just only harvest from other zones.

The "eat your enemy" thing is a ritual...they do not eat every single corpse in their wars. The intent is the point.

Also, the green pact is just a societal norm. It's like having sex with your cousin...society frowns on it, but it's technically legal heh heh.

In one of the quests I did in Grahtwood, there was a Bosmer alchemist that said he strictly used plant parts that had naturally fallen to the ground. This seemed fine as far as the Green Pact was concerned (the quest in question was about figuring out who had broken the Green Pact, but it wasn't the alchemist himself).

    Thanks, this is interesting information.

Do you have a source I could peruse? Or maybe a reference to which TES game had this information.

I am skeptical about them not _having_ to eat a kill within 3 days though. I know it's highly ritualized, and generally private, but the official wiki leaves no room for interpretation. "Part of the Green Pact is the Meat Mandate that dictates that a fallen enemy must be eaten completely before three days pass."

There's actually reference to a vegeterian Bosmer in a quest. An "evil" ship captain keeps a starving Bosmer slave girl. I never saw her though.

Woodworking is do-able. The wood you harvest in the world are from already fallen and dead tree husks. So long as you do not harm still-living trees in Valenwood, you're fine.

I'm usually a major dark elf fan in games, but Bosmer are just so fun. I really like how they designed them in ESO compared to past games, too. They look much more feral and exotic.
