Dunno whats taking them so long to |FIX a login server.. It Seems more like a normal weekly maintenance of 4-6 hours. This is the 3th Maintenance this week for ESO. So i hope they Fix DUP bug, ban all those Dup players, fix along the way the bugged quests and random crashes because should considered as doable for ESO after a 3th maintenance in 1 week and reports since BETA about those issues.
So I am very confident that the ESO team READS forums and is on top of those Issues to fix them, soon i hope....
Lets take 1min and pray for those poor DEV souls because they are working soooo damn HARD to FIX all those issues.
PS: played since BETA i am aware whats going on so no BS here. Only being Real !
Do you know if its a hardware problem? Those usually take awhile. Its not like someone just has to switch the power on again. Its not like its ONE Server they have to fix, or do you think that one server handles a few tens of thousands of logins?
We don't know exactly what it was, add to that that its a weekend between holidays (or isn't it in na as well?) so they won't have a full shift probably.
Never seen maintenances for a several hours in the prime-time in, for example, GW2!masterdtox wrote: »Hello guys,

stop whining.. this stuff happens with MMO..
are you 15 or something, never played an MMO.
Stuff breaks now and then..fact of life
I've managed IT for sony pictures studio mobile entertainment for 9 years, the main platform had 3000 connections per second and 16 million active subscribers hosted on 4 IIS servers, 2 DB servers (of which only one was active) and 2 application server (round robin). Worked just fine, tho we'r talking about servers well over a 100k each.
At the end, you cant compare it but i wonder why invest in some unknown company with your prime product while you could have gone with google or microsoft who both have a 50k+ server park intended for these purposes

Its understandable if there are Exploits that are required to take game down for, but fixes should not be done whenever you feel like it - they are not exactly game breaking - Not being able to log on and play...now that is.
And is it too much to ask for an ETA or a least an update to progression, its common courtesy.

And please stop compairing to WoW' launch... that was over a decade ago
Technology has evolved...
* Internet connections improved!
* Hardware has improved!
* Experience in launching MMO's should have improved! (what is this now? the 25th big MMO launch?)

I totally agree with u on this, the technology has improved so much more from 2004 and this should be unacceptable in 2014 especially if u have BEAT'S that are there for fixing issues so that a Game can have good launch not perfect but acceptable launch. Sadly ESO is far away from this.

The technology has improved so much that a 10 year old game such as WoW still suffers from login issues.
it's always amusing to see posts from people who think they know how coding works.

But there was no any visible reasons to make unexpected maintenance today! ><
I will take it as long as it takes, i dont really care if they have to take down the server, if you ever work in the IT Branch, you will understand why maintenence is important.

Apparently you weren't trying to:
- use a wayshrine.
- use a door into a building or to another zone.
- get into or out of a dungeon.
- use your keyboard moves in a fight.
- try to make and save a new character.
- log in to the game.
Thousands of us were. And yep, even while everything may have been hunky dory while walking in the world, how do you know for sure that when there's the aforementioned problems for loads of people, that your own game play history was being recorded? For all you know, all of what you did while we were having our problems, was never saved and when you log back in in ~30 minutes you'll find yourself at a point an hour prior to where you were unceremoniously dumped out of the game. All due to the server already having problems.

So u actually saying that the coding that is done will be always like this. This means technology will get stuck and never move forward to improve, good logic man.... and people just have to deal with it?
Have you ever done any coding at all? Well guessing from your comment it would be a no.
The problem was that your solution didn't work anymore. ALT+F4 means to kill the running program, means you're logged out of the game. So then you restart the game launcher, get to the log in page, put your credentials and password in, to then find that you cannot log back in anymore. So not solved, very easy, etc.If you have stuck in zoning, just Alt+F4 and start the game again - solved, very easy, takes 2 mins.
