My theory about the majority of these bans

kmartau
kmartau
I think the number of gold crafting mats you own had been a contributing factor. Quite a lot of crafters and people using a lot of hirelings have been banned.

I know of a few people who got gold crafting mats from hirelings or from refining raw materials.

Thoughts? If they have like 100 (or even 50) gold upgrade mats then they duped. I don't even have one.

Only gold materials I have are 2 runes that I found about a week ago. I also don't have hirelings for any of the crafting skills. I do however have a large amount of materials that came from deconstructing items found while grinding. I don't think that last bit should be a reason for having my account suspended but in truth I can't think of any reason for my being suspended.

I have one hireling rank 1, and 0 gold upgrade mats, and still got banned.
  • Flayedalive
I got a single Gold temper from the second day my Hireling delivered. Yes I am banned and don't understand why and have two tickets, one mail and one phone.

Have alot of green and blues from always breaking everything down. 200+ most greens and 60-80 on the blues. Could have kick a false positive on their dup filter.

I have several gold crafting materials from Hirelings...and no ban here. Talked to my friends who are also non-cheaters and none of us have been banned.

Keep up the good work, Zenimax! (No sarcasm here--keep crushing the exploiters)

its quick to get lvl1 hirelings all you have to do make a toon skip the run through go raid all the houses and do some crafting just need lvl 3 really is quick to do
    I have 4 toons with 3 hireling each .
so I would say most players have done this reason for the mass bans you are not playing the way they want you to play.
so you get banned I don't think for 1 minute they will undo most of these bans they made a decision and that's it .
you either have to make a new account or move on play another game

I found a guy willing to sell me 29 of the Blacksmithing golds for 2k each (where normally they sell for about 5k) and I bought them from him maybe two or three days ago. It is entirely possible that I was scammed and that they were duped...

...but how the hell was I supposed to know that?!

I have loads of crafting materials from farming. I guess saving items is against the TOS
And thats mobs i was farming not bosses

I've got no more than 2 or 3 golds across all 7 characters. Pretty sure ALL came from hirelings since all those characters are tradeskillers and have multiple hirelings. I don't think I've got more than a single yellow or purple stackable item of any kind, making exploitation of the guild bank cheat physically impossible...

That could be true, but the thing is - having 50 gold upgrade items obtained in a legal way is easy. I've gotten about 5 gold upgrade items from 25-30 hireling mails per day, over 3 days. That's 15 upgrade items. I've also received more than 30 gold upgrade items from refining Topgrain Hide Scraps and Ironhide Scaps which you get from aoe farming the wolf packs in Crow's Wood. You get on average about 1 gold upgrade item per stack of Topgrain Hide Scraps you refine.

So, if the number of gold upgrade items is their filter for suspending accounts, they've completely missed the target.

This is just my theory. As I said , a few people seem to fall into this category. Perhaps it's the number of hirelings ?

I doubt it is to do with a specific item or type - the post referenced in the response up there specifically mentions some dupe glitch with guild banks.

But a lot of those hit with this are not IN guilds - or are in guilds that Have No Bank - so ... another "win" for Zenimax.

A lot of us are waiting on the phone - some for over 2 hours now, and some are saying they were simply Hung Up On once they got someone to answer.

Sorry to break it to you, but I have 0 gold crafting mats, 0 hirelings and have had 0 transactions with guild banks or other players, I have a grand total of about 3k gold.

They are unjustly banning many many players and they need to apologise and re open the accounts.

Even farming bosses is not against their TOS, they've officially stated this on the forums already.

I'm guessing the majority of people claiming to be innocent recently purchased some expensive mats from someone for a very low price.

In the case of the genuinely innocent ones they probably couldn't believe their luck getting some legendary crafting mats for 20% - 30% of their usual price.

But this is also a typical money laundering scheme for people who are duping. They "sell" the duped items to another account for greatly reduced prices - this character then either onsells them at market price or uses them to craft high level items then onsells them making a massive profit.

So it's possible you've been banned for having bought from a duper and looking lie you are an alt account of that duper. It's likely you'll win an appeal and you've now learned there is no such thing as a free lunch.

Wholeheartedly agree with you bro. I think a lot of the issue here is a bunch of people don't get this and have probably thought they were in serious luck finding those sort if mats on the cheap. My bet is ZOS have been a little too rushed and put together a poorly formed query to find and ban cheaters.

Just hope they admit their mistake and reverse this for the people who have illegitimately been banned.

Honestly I believe Zenimax blanket banned people with over a certain threshold of gold / crafting mats.
    E.g. A player has 200 dreugh wax - Banned
E.g. A player has 500k+ gold and less than 2 days game time. - Banned

Most of these QQ threads are likely just players lying in hopes that Zenimax has not been rigorous with the bans and will appeal just because they have complained

Buying mats ingame for a lower cost, should not be bannable.

I did not even know there was a dupe bug until the maint last night. I bought 4 gold enchanting runes at a lower cost than I have seen them before. I did not get banned but if someone bought 10+ and never cheated, thats unreasonable

To the extent they banned people based solely on number of legendary tempers, that's wrong. A large number of folks bought tempers with zero knowledge that they were duped items. Not to mention, some guild folks could have been legitimately holding donated tempers from a large number of guildies.

You are being overly cynical. I did not dupe items, but I did get three separate CE emails and kept nearly all of the items on an alt after reporting it. I also have 30 urns sent to me each day from Hirelings on 8 characters and usually receive a gold per day, sometimes two and even three. I sold 5 Dreugh Wax a couple days ago for 3k each out of my stock. I sold another one like 5 days ago as well as some other one, I think it was the BS one, 5 days ago. That does not make me a duper nor a cheater.

FWIW, I have 2 accounts. Each one has 7 toons with 4 hirelings (enc, WW, BS, cloth). my primary account has my BS, WW, Cloth on it and my second has my Prov, Enc, Alc on it.. I mail mats betwen the accounts. I have a ton of orange/gold/yellow whatever you want to call them mats.. but they stay on my primary account. My secondary account was suspended, not my primary. And all my primary account does is log on and do hireling bags. Hell I haven't even really played my primary either except for research and hirelign bags since I lost my bank and a ton of gold with it.

    ^^ Quotes broken
If that's the case appeal and im sure you will be unbanned. Like many, many players, i also have hirelings sending me materials everyday. If you are banned, those reasons you listed are likely not relevant.

    lol

I have bought HUNDREDS. You guys aren't understanding how traceable this exploit was. Legit players that are trading fairly are not getting ban hammered. My friend probably has 2-3 hundred Dreugh Wax. And a ton of gold. Just from buying low and selling high. The bans have nothing to do with this.

I was reading a lot of posts about the bans, and all the baneds call their characters, "Toons".

That's obviously why they all have been baned. (or at least they should be ;) )

    I can make theories too.
