I'll take startup issues and mistakes for an MMO that doesn't spoonfeed us anyday

The potential of this game is amazing, and for all the controversies and growing-pains, kudos to the developers for having the guts to make hard decisions.

I have my complaints too, but I'm keeping in mind that there's literally no other MMO that is even trying to make a game like this anymore (thank you very much WoW). It's great to finally have a game that puts value in immersion and challenge over bowing to the constant screams to dumb everything down into a tacky, easy-mode mess.

This remains to be seen, but I am choosing to stay hopeful that you are correct.

Doesn't spoonfeed? Do you not have a compass in your game or something?

I like the game as well, but compared to Ie. The Secret World, we are being pretty spoonfed when it comes to quests and where to go etc

But yeah, I have been hit with some of the stuff as well, but it is stuff I can live with at the moment.
Have been through some of the more interesting games in my past as well, like Conan, Vanguard, Everquest, those were games with interesting starts and some fun downtimes
We're born, we live, we die. And along the way, you do the best with whatever crap you step in :p

I'm stranded all alone in the gas station of love, And I have to use the self-service pumps <3

Post Hoc Ergo Proptor Hoc o:)

Motivation alone is not enough. If i had an idiot with me and i motivated him, then i will have a motivated idiot to do stuff :s

That's not spoon feeding. A mini-map is spoon feeding. The compass is giving you the spoon and telling you to feed yourself. You have to be aware of where you're going, figure out the path, but you don't just follow a little symbol and avoid obstacles before you even see them.

(As opposed to having neither--which is like having no spoon at all--a nice idea, but in practice, messy, wasteful and makes every trivial quest take too long, IMO. That said, I wouldn't mind some quests having no compass icon or main map icon. Just not all of 'em.)

With all the "find this missing person somewhere" type quests we get that have a little white arrow pointing straight at the missing person's exact location... I beg to differ. Even quests which give a big circle on the map to search in end up with arrows on the compass and main screen showing exactly what/where to go when you get close enough. I would definitely call that spoonfeeding.

This game spoon-feeds quite a bit, but it's not half as bad as a lot of the other MMOs out there.

But it is a TES game, which this allegedly is as well. If you prefer, I could say Everquest or Ultima Online (not that it had many quests to begin with).

    Edit : erm, wrong thread.

Better anwser : I actually find the game too easy. But I guess that's the current MMO's trend...

I agree, it's my only dissappointment in the game. It's too easy and holds my hand too much.

I don't  , I use Wykkyds immersion mod that lets me hide the compass. Always thought the compass was overkill and made me too lazy

Wykkyd's stuff is great, I couldn't play without the Bazgrim's Subtitles part of his Framework addon. They fixed some of the audio issues, but it's still hard to understand the NPCs sometimes when you have to follow someone around as they are talking.

Didn't play UO. EQ--no comparison. As you said, quests weren't even a factor, so a mini-map or compass wouldn't apply.

There are certain differences in quest based MMOs over single player games that are just facts of life for its viability. I'm all for immersiveness, but some concessions have to be made or it really is going to be too time consuming to do the required, numerous quests in this broad landscape for most people. As I said, the compass here is an excellent compromise that makes you have to be aware of your environment without making you constantly searching for trivial quest items.

It's very spoonfeedy, and the bugs/rubbish design decisions will be a distant memory if fixed, as will gold spam and gold farmers if properly handled. It's quite a fun little game, and if they follow the DAOC approach to interface design and patch in the best of the communities interface efforts the interface will be better. I'm quite keen on it becoming an MMO sometime.

    Time will tell, as always.

By spoonfed do you refer to the absolute lack of communication from them to aggravated customers or to the questing system...

Cause if you don't consider the questing system of this game, spoonfed... you must really have trouble getting out of your own driveway.

This game is absolutely the easiest game ever. You don't have to think about anything at all.

    Speak to marked npc
    run to marker
kill or collect whatever is at marker
run back to marked npc which usually has moved closer to you already
    collect reward.

that's spoonfed. I at least like to have to think just a tiny bit.

Lol...it doesn't have a mini-map, but does show every quest interest point on map and even gives hints for anything hard. I wouldn't mind the bugs and crap if I didn't spend 100$ so far and spend more times in loading screens and dealing with broken game mechanics that were brought to their attention at least many months ago if not a year from the Beta Testers

I find the game really immersive, and it looks beautiful and world design is finely crafted to represent a natural environment.

Some fights can be challenging solo, like going into a public dungeon like the one with all the goblins in it. Tons of people die in that dungeon, it's quite a mess :3

    Lets see

The compass points you to everything... so no exploration really.

You are told to "Search" something like a warehouse and as if that's just too hard.. there are only 6 boxes to search when you get there, but if that's just two hard, they mark three you should look in once you get there. That's harsh.

This is hands down the easiest, no brain required game I've played.

It's actually a lot like wow, only easier.

I'm sorry, have you seen the little symbols on the compass?

Have you looked at the map?

Have you seen all the clues?

Have you seen the little white arrows at the locations you are at so you don't even have to think a little bit.

    Where is the challenge again?

I think what you like is the style of the game, no how difficult it is.

Uh, yeah. But just follow them without paying attention to the game world and you'll end up running against a cliff or off one. I was referring to the symbols on a mini-map, which you can basically look at while ignoring the game screen and get where you want. Avoiding obstacles before they're even in your view. Big difference.

Look, I don't blame SZos for this btw. All gamintg has gone this direction for years and years.

With every new release, the gaming industry dumbs down it seems.

This game is no different, it's just the latest and so the easiest in the progression.
