[Suggestions] Anti-Gold Spamming Features

Just a brain dump as I've submitted over 50+ reports now with full ignore list and more zone chat, guild invites and mail to bother. Keep pushing these guys out of the game.
  • EASY Access "Report Gold Spammer" right click in Zone Chat. Tired of doing multiple steps to HELP clean up a problem ZOS should have planned against.
  • "Reported Gold Spammer" gets 5 flags then gets added to a GLOBAL IGNORE list that all players automatically get filtered (Instead of local max'd out list)
  • BIGGER Ignore list(s) for people to use than current size.
  • Online GM 24x7 that AUTO-Ban's sellers in chat zone instantly.
  • Ignore Guild Invites Feature (I thought we had this in BETA) Toggle Switch.
  • Select ALL in Ignore list to clear out or "Un-ignore" so we can fill up again.
Not sure how to address the Email spam now as they are using clever "Upcoming details on ESO" type messages. Very annoying when I think ZOS is sending something. Maybe expand the Mail to be OFFICIAL mail from ZOS in a different color so folks know it's spam and can delete?

I agree gold spam is annoying, and the "report" option is horribly deep in the UI. Would love to see your first option implemented. I think the second option could see too much abuse on innocent players, and the fourth option is a little impractical.

Anyways, I'm not sure if you've tried using ESO add-ins but there is a mod to help with spam. Check it out at http://www.esoui.com/downloads/info89-SpamFilter.html

If you're the type of person who likes helping themselves this might be just what you need! If you intend on waiting for Zenimax to fix your problem it may be a while, good luck!

A "help - bot invasion!" button. Maybe not that effective as other (automated) methods. Its the psychological factor for us players. SHOW YOUR HAMMER, gm! B) The big one I mean.

If you cant ban them instantly, put the very account into an ingame "prison" as UO had one :-)

Believe me, players would love it, they would love you. Believe me, Zenimax!

I can't stress this as a quick, simple and purely tactical, but very effective!

Sit down a GM online and they take screen shots of the offender. Attach to TICKET, INSTANT BAN ACCOUNT and time consuming process/hassle for users.

I always IGNORE/REPORT at the same time with screen shot so you see the ACCOUNT name for the asdfhsfkl random typed names.

NOTE: Your "REPORT PLAYER" should also show his/her account name in the thread to report as I suspect they delete names quickly and create new ones.

We were told that our monthly subscription would be paying for top-notch support for this game. Let's see it happen, Zenimax. Go after the people who are destroying your product, and the whole experience of The Elder Scrolls Online.

Thanks @LunaRae I'm already lined up with an add-on Spamfilter. :) First couple days I had to clear it out a couple times even.

I think Option 4 of a GM online is more practical SHORT TERM. They can pony up some labor hours to man this type of arrangement in a tactical sense to help ease the pain of end users. (Spam is just way out of control today)

I agree that the game needs a GM, but like @Inco‌ said, we need a long-term solution.

It's sad, that instead of battling for Tamriel, we're battling for resource and boss nodes.

If you are getting e-mails from these low lifers towards your e-mail you use for this game n such I highly suggest changing it asap... they got you on some list so they're one step closer

Probably want to have the pop-up blocker at max setting and having something like a adblock that is also set to the maximum setting or whatever... use something like CCleaner to clean out the entire browsing data

I do NOT support internet ads you see while internet browsing (don't care if you run off its' revenue to keep maintaining said website or upload youtube videos) when you have ads out there that can acquire personal information by simply showing up/playing or whatever of course I'm going to block ads (non-intrusive ads do not exist)

I agree, put people in place to monitor zone chats. Give them a utility to type the player name in and confirm before banning. I myself have ignored someone I didn't intend to because of the scrolling spam.

I'm sure there are a number of people that would volunteer time to swing the gold spam ban hammer. If they abuse it, IP ban them.

I don't know their system well but I think a big challenge is the system isn't automated enough to handle banning gold spammers. The first challenge is even getting people to report them instead of blocking them (FIX: Implement one-click report at chat level without going into menus) - I am guilty here sometimes. The next challenge is creating a filtered system that can 99.995% correctly identify gold spam reports and ban them all in one fell-swoop without impacting innocent players.

I simply don't get the feeling that reports are getting submitted often enough for the system to easily tell that 100,000 players are reporting X gold-spammer, clearly something is wrong here = ban.

Yes we do need a long term solution but we need a short term fix because here soon the 30 days will be up and many may choose to cancel due to these things.

I'd wager that at least a fourth of the original player base will be saying goodbye to this game after those 30 days are up, and with good reason. Right now, I remain hopeful, but apparently the gold-spamming just got worse.

I too like point 1. Or at least a menu in the report player section that just says "gold spamming or botting". It would make things just a little faster, and is surely one simple change to the databse.

    I would like to add.

Stop sending mails to my RL email for every single gold seller I report.

I dont need you to tell me that you cannot tell me what you do, I got better thing to do that sit and empty my mail for those countless mails on gold sellers I reported.
I never seen any MMO even do this before, and most MMOS I played had a simple "Report Spam" feature in the chat, which generated an automatic report and automatically ignored the one I reported.

I played LTORO for 3 years, and only ever saw one single gold seller.
ZOS could learn something from Turbine when it comes to dealing with gold sellers.
