GM chat in game.

Xbloody_m3ssx
During the beta tests i ran into an issue that blocked my progress in the game. i was very impressed with the fact that i was able to join a help chat and speak directly with a game moderator who helped with my problems in game. i then was directly in contact with him through several emails.
I am very disappointed that the option was removed from the full version of the game.
It was advertised that our complaints or requests from support would not be passed onto some "dwenmer construct" which clearly is not the case. now all tickets receive generic automated responses that are no help at all. It definitely would improve the quality of support tenfold to see a full team back in the game to take care of these issues. Perhaps it would even make people feel better about the issues and more likely to rough it out knowing that there is proof of a legit support team and mods working on their problems.

I would expect to have GM's in game 24/7 as that should be a service I pay for with my subscription. You used to have this in mmo's, but not recently in the large ones. Just one more "Dear Adventurer......" auto reply I swear I might go play somewhere else.

Customer support is absolutely woeful, it really is.

Although I agree the GM chat was nice in beta, I'm sure the "full team" is busy taking care of more pressing issues regarding launch.

It is really adding insult to injury when you get the nonsense-speak cut and paste responses to tickets, that include the "passing it to High-Elves". Forget the High Elves, an in-game GM would be a vast improvement.
ZoS Ambassadors please do not bother responding to me because I have you on ignore. Your input is neither valued or welcomed.

Then they need to do what several other MMOs have done and hire trusted players as volunteer mods with limited powers. There are plenty of people out there who would be more than happy to help.

Dang OP - you got me all excited. I've been trying to get ahold of a GM for about a week to no avail. In fact - no one I know has been able to successfully get a response from a GM in game.

Imagine an in-game GM that could sit next to the SW Beacon in Moonmount and manually give Shazah a kick in her feline booty so people could actually finish Motes in the Moonlight o.O

It is sad that ESO is not taking advantage of this whole Mega Server deal.

Back in UO, there were GM/EM (event Moderators) that had completely random events (not ingame scripted, but real time scripted for the most part).

You did not have just random NPC dialogue, you had a human being on the other side of that did great improvisation.

ESO has a great advantage on this kind of stuff, they just have to use it.

Ultima had so many things right in their MMO when lead by Lord British, its a shame it came crumbling down.

I once filed report asking for help because I was stuck and /stuck wasn't working. The estimated wait time was 1 hour.
9 days later and as a Skyrim courier would say..."Nope, sorry...nothing."

Direct chat does exist still, but *they* need to initiate it. I had a GM contact me on Sunday, and it brought up an exclusive chat window.
"It's morally wrong to suggest gameplay changes for an MMO."
...seriously, someone told me that once here. The things people will do to win their internet arguments!

I dont want to be the bad guy, but all mmos do that, in the beta was millions of players remember? So they always showing us their best existence, their best will and self... And even if the beta was millions, we still got a gm to speak and summon and reset quests... now they got the bucks and become a smoke. They are in Hawaii and testing the new Porsche... lol

I was expecting this to happen, but it happened away to fast... the next day. But they do have something that others dont... Well I saw that happening a couple of days ago, GMs here interact with people and they also solve problems. Only a couple of mmos do that. As for the online thing and if the ingame tickets, ever resolved, its another story.

This feature actually was available during Early Access but I think the amount of people with issues was so great they removed it.

What games let players be GMs?

I haven't seen in game GM's since SWG. I would love the feature back, would seriously help zone chat.

while you make a valid point, i think it was a poor decision on their part. Even if there was a wait for a chance to speak with a game mod, it would be better then nothing.
If zeni cant put the money aside to hire a big enough support team then they are going to fall through the floor with this game.

and to the poster who mentioned they had alot more pressing issues during launch to worry about. I think keeping the customers happy is the most pressing issue of all. no one is going to wait for them to sort it out if their cries for help are going ignored.

I think we should go down the road of player moderators.

If Zenimax do their selection carefully you won't have any of those kid moderators running around with a big ego. It would be a position that offers no benefits (no free subscription, no in game advantages), but would just involve having priority reporting, temporary muting and a place for players to get a little in game help. In the form of advice and knowledge of course.

Some people may hate the idea of this but I think it would really help cut down the amount of gold spammers, bots, and rule breakers. I haven't decide if providing them with a chat symbol is a good or bad idea. They would be easy to identify when abusing their power and easy to find if you need a hand. However it may cause some players to seek the moderation status just for the symbol and to feel better.

    What do you guys think?

Zeni should lose the cuteness (e.g. "dwemer artifacts") and just be professional. Fix your game. Test it to ensure no bugs. Get your players some information.
