"The maintenance for the North American megaserver is taking a little longer than anticipated, and we expect the server to come back online no later than early this evening. We'll let you know when we have any updates. Thanks!"

"No later than early this evening."

Listen can you give us an hour like 4pm for example...if 4pm gets close and you aren't done then extend it, but it at least gives us a timeline to check back for updates.

Every message you do, every announcement is so darn vague it is annoying.

This is a MMO not a political campaign.

It seems to me that one of the hallmarks of ESO is lack of information, both in-game and out.

If they knew the exact time, they would give it.

Whats annoying is all the negativity and crying...
Servers up: OMG why arent they doing anything, no bugs are being fixed!
Servers down: OMG why are the servers down.... Its PRIME TIME(lol)
  • MoiraHarkenstone
lol I want to play too!!! But come on, if they spend a bunch of time composing a perfectly explanatory, updated precise message for you, that will simply take more time away from fixing the game and getting it back online and will open a whole new line of interrogation for them to have to wade through.

Lighten up, go find something else to do - take a walk, read a book, clean out a closet, wash the car, get some exercise, wash the cat, go do a kind act for an elderly neighbor, put together a donation box of clothes or food and find where to donate, clean the gutters or even compose a letter to the ESO staff and tell them how much you appreciate them getting up and to the office before 5am to get this maintenance done so the we can play TONIGHT.

Think about it - someone (and likely more than one) had to get to the office in Bethesda BEFORE 5am EST to start this maintenance in the first place.
I for one am grateful for the dedication. But maybe that's because I live with a career IT guy and I know they are people, too.

Edited to remove the impact of the "5am" statement, as it was changed to 8am, which is less impressive lol.

Annoying brats who think they have a right to control a company because they pay $15/month for access to their game is annoying. You bought the game, not a stock in the company. Get over it or get out. It's not changing.

Hmm, you would think $15 a month would get us some better Alpha testing

That isn't true...plenty of other MMOs give a tentative time and if they can't make it, they push it back.

Actually, you do have the right.

The subscription fee is payment for 24/7 access the game (literally paying for "game time"). Sure we may not use all the 24 hours in a day, but we're still paying full 100% price for access every hour, every minute and every second. It doesnt matter if they call the current 30 days "free", we still paid for the box that included them and any time lost during this time is lost, period.

If the game servers are down, ZOS are failing to provide a paid for service. That's actually enough grounds for a lawsuit, but whatever. I just want to play the damn game in the middle of primetime. The only way ZOS can get around it is adding the downtime hours to everyones accounts.

Game servers are down not because ZOS is failing to provide for a paid service, its because they're fixing the game, what planet are you on? READ the terms of service, it clearly states they have the right to take the game down for maintenance at any time they please.

YOU accepted it, before you started playing. They don't owe us jack.

When some wild-eyed, eight-foot-tall maniac grabs your neck, taps the back of your favorite head up against the barroom wall, and he looks you crooked in the eye and he asks you if ya paid your dues, you just stare that big sucker right back in the eye, and you remember what ol' Jack Burton always says at a time like that: "Have ya paid your dues, Jack?" "Yessir, the check is in the mail."

ZOS is officially the most silent MMO company in existence when it comes to PR.

Blizzard and Carbine shoot their mouths off, talking about EVERYTHING and throwing in jokes here and there.

ZOS is like the introvert at the party.

Yes, they reserve the right to do so. Just as I reserved the right to unsubscribe during the first 30 days and before the first payment of my sub was due. And so I did. If they want my money once more, they have to work for it.

They can never tell us anything for all i care. But stuff is getting fixed, slowly but surely, and thats all i do care about, as i see it being implemented in the game. These people that need a 10minute play by play from ESO need to get a life, as ZOS CS forums are not twitter.

Disagree with this statement / sentiment. It's a job, dedication has nothing to do with it, or shouldn't anyway. This is an MMO, which means 24/7 staff is required. Not EVERYONE at all times, but there has to be a CS team on hand to handle things that pop up at 3 am.

I agree, some sort of numerical eta would be much welcome. "Some time this afternoon" is not sufficient, even more so considering it is already "afternoon" here in sunny England.

It makes me wonder what the forum moderators consider good communication. Part of their job must be to keep the player base informed and yet between a lack of communication and vague posts this is not being achieved.

The fact that you are inconvenienced will not change the fact that they have no idea how long the maintenance will take.

For the past few days I have seen people clamoring for them to take the servers down and fix the problems. Now that the servers are down the other half are clamoring for them to be back up. Giving continued updates of we have no ETA is pointless. Relax let them fix it.

I am sorry but this is utterly wrong. By playing the game you accepted the legal terms of Zenimax Media which you can read here:

    http://www.zenimax.com/legal_terms_us

There is a clear statement on availability:
ZeniMax does not guarantee that any Services will be available at all times, in all countries and/or geographic locations, at any given time, or that it will continue to offer any particular Services for any particular length of time. Except as prohibited by applicable law, ZeniMax reserves the right to change and update Content without notice to You. ZeniMax also reserves the right to refuse Your request(s) to acquire Content, and to limit or block any request to acquire Content, including, but not limited to, Downloadable Content, for any reason.

So the only right you have is to vote with your wallet and unsub, this is also imho the only way to get noticed as a Player.
