Update on lost items/skillpoints.
So Saturday night during the major lag, I lost all my skill points, carried inventory and had a total bank wipe, and my mount. I managed to get back in the game by purchasing a skill point reset, which refunded me all my skill points that were missing. I CSR finally called me yesterday morning trying to see what items I wanted priority on getting back, but it seems that they couldn't see my mount and some of the items I had lost. The CSR also informed me that while he "could" restore my items, he had to refer it to a GM for it to actually occur, and that having the restored items sent by mail instead of being directly shunted into inventory was a somewhat convoluted process. I am just posting this for other people who are in the same situation to know what going on. He also said that this patch today is supposed to restore lost items or something along those lines.
