A game that cost upwards of a couple hundred million to make should really be handling itself better than this. Don't start the maint. at 8am est again.

Start it at 3-4am EST. This is the 4th downtime/maint. in a week. You have a lot riding on this and launch is critical. Make those people come in early or make the schedule work.

You should really care about your investment and customers more. Being new to the MMO scene isn't an excuse.

The Elder Scrolls Online - Where the best spells are AoEs and the strongest weapon is a Shield!

I thought they explicitly said TESO cost way less than $100m.

It actually lead to that hilarious, "you will be disappointed," quote truncation.

I'm sure that's why they're doing maintenance in the first place

Define 'Later this evening." Is that EST or PST?

Does that mean it will be down all day today EST or PST?

    Where is the information? lol

regardless of how much a game costs, there will still be things that need ironed out.. and in my mind, the more expensive a game is to create, the more chance there are of problems popping up.. of course, I'm not a game developer, programmer, or coder.. just a gamer who apparently has alot more patience than others in these forums..

How are they not caring about there customers or their investment? By them taking the time, man power and resources to take down the server to patch and update the game them caring about their customers and their investment.

People need to take a deep breath and just relax. I want things to be smooth and error free as well but their isn't one MMO or one game that's been releases that hasn't had issues to deal with.

It's actually kind of true. Larger budgets are usually indicative of larger teams. You're spending more money to throw more programers at a problem. But, the thing is, that doesn't actually work. With programmers, the more people you throw at a project, the less efficient they become.

There's an old joke/quote about publishers thinking you can just assign nine women to produce a baby in a month. Thing is, it is applicable. Each programmer needs to be up to speed on their part of the project, and they need to have a functional understanding of the systems they're interacting with. As you add more team members, this information overhead grows... I want to say exponentially, but that's not quite true. It can become a huge problem, however.

So, yeah, the larger an MMO's budget, the more of a headache the final product will be.

really guys, when you buy a car. a standard with no extras is alot easier to fix then when you buy yourself a lamborghini with all the trimmings. more stuff to go wrong. so yes they may have paid a lot of money, but that just means more problems can arise. lets all take a deep breath. if they did the maint at night, night time players would complain, early morning same thing. best for them to just do it and get it over with.

Hey, they got the Euro server up on time... Every time.... Think maybe it's time to reroll....
  • quiksilver9624
I have to concur that this needs to happen around 3-4am only because this caters to the core install base. Sorry night owls. I also think when they get their grove down with downtime maint. shouldn't last longer than 3 hours. Hopefully, though unlikely given the recent track record, Zenimax will make true on the suggestion of not having maint if its not required. HOPEFULLY that happens... not optimistic.

actually it goes down right now..cause alot of the players actually have 9-5 jobs. so they cant play during this time anyway. and the night owls are asleep. thats 2 groups that need this time slot. so the few people who are actually not working and awake at this time .....(sorry for you)

There were polls and feedback sent out during the beta. as well as during the early release on the time slots that the players would like to use for maint. these are the time slots that won. I apologize if your side lost the vote.
