Be wary of Addon's

First of all I would like to say that some CSR's need to actually READ the emails. I will explain why.
So the day before yesterday I started having login issues. I would get to character select no problem but the game would give me a 303 error (lobby error) or and unknown reason error.
After restarting router, modem and making sure all my drivers where up to date etc etc etc I still could not get on. I contacted customer service. I was offline for 10 hours

Needless to say I was incredibly frustrated.
So I decide what the heck IM gonna try turning off add on's that I have.
The first one I turn off is SpamFilter and BAM I am able to log in and play the rest of the day.

So please if you guys are having trouble loggin in disable your addons when you get to character select to see if that solves the problem prior to contacting customer support. You may be able to help yourself.

I hope this helps some of you.

Have a great day!!!

Ehm, how is customer support going to diagnose problem with addon YOU have downloaded? If your character's data would be corrupted, they could help... this is just your own stupidity.

First of all be nice. I never said customer support could help. I never thought it was an add on.
I was simply trying to help others who might run across the same problem. Now if you have nothing productive or nice to say please go troll somewhere else.

I would have though the default question from support would be to disable all Add-on's before proceeding with a ticket/problem solving.

Add-on's are great, but a badly written one , ouch.....

A ZAM add-on has already been shown to be the cause of 'unknown error' problems, seems the add-on API exposes too much if it allows an add-on to 'phone home' like the ZAM one did.

So why do you complain that they don't read your emails, when the problem is yours and only yours? If you wanted to make informative post, you word these differently, you know?
Like... "if you have problem logging in, try disabling all addons first", one sentence, no bashing of their support.

WOW. I was making a statement. I think they are doing a great job even though they didnt read the email. I was hoping to help. But apparently then only thing I have done is drawn the ire of someone who has nothing better to do then to bash me for trying to help.
Im terribly sorry I did not write the post to your expectations. How thoughtless of me. Tell you what skippy, from now on Ill send all my posts to you ahead of time for proofing. That way I can meet your approval. Is that ok?

Support is not reading emails. They are sending automated responses. So they are pointing out an actual problem, although it isn't directly related to the issue they ran into.

Disabling add-ons from the character select isn't going to be the first thing most people think of when experiencing log in issues. This post was very informative. It could possibly help other people who are dealing with this and could also help lighten Supports load a bit. They didn't have to post this and it was nice of them to share their solution.

You still felt the need to come onto the post and attack someones intelligence for no apparent reason. Perhaps it's time for you to take a break from the forums and go breathe deeply for a bit.

    This is interesting.

However, unless SpamFilter is your only addon, it may not be SpamFilter but a conflict between two addons.

Addons can talk to each other and use each other.

"The first one I turn off" tells me that you have more than one.

Thinking about this more, I am wondering if Zenimax may be interested in determining what addon problem exists and fixing it in some future patch. If you can determine exactly what addon, or addons, causes this problem and get them copies of the exact code you have there, maybe they can determine if this is something they can detect and fix.

Unknown error can be platoon of things so if someone's was fixed by removing addons great! mine doesn't go away no matter what i do.

Actually i am currently trying out ipredator vpn to see if it helps for my unknown problems. (nm too much hassle to get a trial)

I was having quite a few UI issues as of late and decided to just run the bare minimums for myself for a while until either addons get fine-tuned or ZOS's API gets more refined. I wouldn't be surprised if addons were the cause of some other bigger issues going on with the game, like the bank reset bug.

I had the bank reset bug occur before I had any addons installed.

    Just a few thoughts...

The launch of a game comes with many patches and resets. Trying to use add-ons can be frustrating as many become broken each time a little change goes into the game. Best to wait it out if you can until things even out.

Customer service is absolutely horrible for this game. Honestly, one of the worst I've encountered. I know there are a variety of issues CS must deal with, but obviously, they were not prepared, trained or given to tools to actually assist the majority of issues. Going forward, ZOS will probably have trouble getting as many subs for future games after the issues of this launch's CS.

Finally, though the OP was a tiny bit conflicting, I see what he meant with his posts and agree with him in the end. No reason to jump all over tidbits, his message is complete after all.

Not necessarily true. Husband and I have no add-ons at all. We always wait a month or two into a game before looking into them. And yet, we've also had plenty of issues. However, again, add-ons can easily be the first reason for issues.

Same here, figured theyd update so much, if i downloaded addons right away, id have to keep them updated as well.

my first playthrough will be without addons, and heck, who knows when ill be using them? Probably when the game is a little more polished up. months from now.
