Forced to Abandon a Quest and Now All Guilds/Friends Gone

So I was in the middle of the 'Test of Vivec' quest, (where you prove yourself to him in the Temple), when the NPC I was supposed to talk to (the spirit of a dead spy) wouldn't give me any options to progress the storyline (Note: I had to exit the conversation before I picked a choice. This was a bad idea, as when I re-entered the conversation the choices were gone).

Anyways ...

I tried reloadui/relog, nothing fixed the NPC so that his conversation would give me a clickable choice, so I had to abandon the quest. After I did this, the game reloaded and that's when everything went to heck.

I have no idea how much progress I lost by choosing 'abandon quest' but it seems like I lost not just the 'Test of Vivec' quest but many of the proceeding ones that lead up to it (the temple should still be empty at this point but it was not). I'm not sure if I'll have to restart these or not.

But the worst part, is that all five of my guilds, and my entire friend's list, is now gone.

I tried reloadui/relog again, but nothing worked. I am pretty upset over this.

Please tell me there's a fix ...

This issue is affecting a lot of people. Just look at the topic list. It probably isn't related to your quest issue.

Yes, I realize that now of course (and am relieved that it seems to be fixed).
