Kicked for message limit when I haven't sent a message for several hours

I am in the middle of a solo battle (mage's guild portal), fighting for my life, when my game closes and I get the following message:

message-rate.jpg

The last time I chatted with anyone was several hours ago when I had a short conversation with my guild about the best places to find stinkhorn. I fairly sure I can't have hit any kind of message limit.

It seems the net to stop spammers, gold miners or grievers, is set at the wrong level. I was booted for an unknown reason 4 days ago and am still awaiting a response that makes any sense from the tickets I have sent in and be allowed to play the game I payed for. I feel for you and all others of us who have been victims of the crazy eso banning gods.

This is a speculation, but it seems to me you may get kicked for "excessive messaging" whenever your character starts to do something repeatedly rather fast.
In my case, I fell though the floor (by coincidence also on Mage guild quests Long Lost Lore) and the character got stuck in air and kep moving up and down with jumping animation, very fast and before I've even wrote stuck, I got kicked for excessive messsaging.
    Failing is a lifestyle too.

In this case "message" is not you sending messages in chat.

It means your client is sending too many "messages" to the server.
In tech speech, that simply means data packets.
For example, every time you hit a key, the client sends a "message" to the server.

If you have a R Naga Mouse, this will happen to you, and I speak for experience.

I got this a couple of times to, and I never use chat.Wonder if the windows sticky keys has anything to do with it, as you use Shift to sprint, hit it five times it enables sticky keys.Disabled it last night and played for hours without getting dropped.

Cause I have one also and I used to get kicked all the time, that stop when I switch to another mouse not as powerful as the Naga. The Naga is so great, the game can't take the quickness of the actions, hence kicks you for doing too many actions too quick.

Does that mean facerolling, facesmashing, and mousespamming isn't allowed?

It's not referring to chat messages.

The same thing happens when your character falls through the world and reaches the edge of the map. Your client begins spamming the server and you get kicked.

It has nothing to do with chat.

Technically, if you did it quick enough, you would indeed be kicked for spamming the server. :p

To play ESO without getting kicked, find bugs or any other problems you must complete the tutorial, and /lute. If you want to switch your play style you can /Drum or /Flute.

Don't you realize the #1 most used emote for ESO is /bug

I have been seeing this also the game keeps running but I am unable to perform attacks block etc and either the monster keeps hitting me till dead or I get kicked with this message.

Not sure if its a bug or latency related but it is kinda annoying

That is how I have come to understand the message.

I think another example may be client / server 'lag' where the client and server have a loss of communication then are reconnected (so to say) and the server is suddenly pounded with all the data or messages from the client. This seems to be why I got the 318 message a few days ago - right after my character 'rubber banded' from one position to another a few yards away (rough interpretation of in game distance) from where the client had it to where the server had it or showed where it should be according to the previous data the server had.

Maybe the powers that be can change the wording in this error message so as to reflect what it actually means or is not so ambiguous.

Edit: 'so ambiguous' - so that the error message does not lead to confusion where players think it is due to 'spamming' as in the example given in the message.

I use to get that at least twice a day. Oddly enough in PvE. It's when you lag or screen freezes and you keep pressing buttons, to swap weapon or activate skills etc.

When you get good connect again with the server all those messages or instructions you sent drops in simultaneously. So the server kicks a suspected "gold spammer".

Don't touch your keyboard when lagged out, pretty much. Than you wont get kicked and receive this error messages. It works for me. Instead I only die from NPC's lol.
