Subscription options and account security

First of all, let me just say that my wife and I both bought the Imperial editions and they have been sitting in the closet since we picked them up on launch day..

Account security here is, well nonexistent.. My login information does not need to be used in the game PERIOD!!! There is no excuse for this..

No authenticators.. No secret questions.. You want me to provide you with a credit card to pay for my subscription when you have appeared to do very little to keep it safe..

Ok.. Time cards.. It is now April 8th, four days after official release of time cards and the game.. I can't find a single retailer in the U.S. that sells them.. No GameStop, No BestBuy, No Fry's, No Target, No Walmart, Not even Amazon is selling these things..

I guess you really don't want my subscription.. Any chance on a refund for the $200 dollars I spent hoping you would get all this squared away?? Nah.. I didn't think so.. What was I thinking??

:(

Well no authenticators yes. But they do make you provide a secret question and every you log into the game or website from a computer that hasn't been used to log into the game or website before they send you an email with a code that you have to enter before you can proceed. I don't know what you are talking about your login information being used in the game. None of mine was when I was actually able to play.

He is talking about his @handle in game, it is the same as what name is used to login.

You login info is used to identify you in guilds and other group activities.. Your friends list, and so forth.. When you add someone, you don't add their character like most other games.. You add their ID, which will show all their characters.. This can be good or bad depending on how you look at it.. I personally would prefer to allow all my charcters maintain their own friends list.. Their names would only be shared if I share them..

I guess I should have been more specific on the secret questions thing.. My bad.. One secret question is pretty much useless, anyone attempting to gain access to your account would only have to answer 1 question.. Any key logger could help with that..

Other games make you setup a number of secret questions that the website chooses randomly to ask you when you want access to your account.. So you never know which question you will get.. To me that in itself is another layer of security.. One just seems like a token attempt at it..

The authenticators are meant to foil the key loggers.. They are single use codes that allow access.. They could also be used as additional income for Bethesda.. I would pay to have one.. Well.. Two, my wife needs one too..

I also don't like how I can access my account without having to login.. A cookie on my computer is allowing me access... Which means that if anyone else hacks my account, they also have that cookie.. I should have to login anytimeand everytime I want to go to the account portion of the website.. I can understand allowing a cookie to log me in to post on the forums.. But no cookie should allow me access where my billing info is.. It is like showing ID to use a credit card.. I should have to show ID to gain access to that portion of the website..

They want my credit card, they are going to have to ramp up security.. I am not going to expose myself, my finances, my credit rating, for a company that seems to be taking the easy road when it comes to security..
