I can think of multiple reasons why this is a good idea.
1. Find out how many people are in your PvP campaign
2. See how many of each class are in a specific dungeons
3. Find members of a guild
4. Look up someone you had fun grouping with but forgot to friend them

I realize that the group finder is there to help people find groups, but it doesn't cover the areas above.

If there are exploits involved with this please enlighten me as to what they are.

    Given the 'mega server' concept where there's no isolation of hundreds of thousands of players I don't see how this could ever work in a useful way for (1) and (2), the other two though seem to be doable.
