If the pre-auth is not out of my account by Friday...

RipVanWinkleX
I will be forced to call my bank for unauthorized charges. I can even send them my e-mail I got from ESO, saying that it was 0 dollars spent and should have never been 15$ to begin with. I know everyone has pre-auth, that I understand. Having a 15 dollars pre-auth is pushing it already. But having it STILL pending for so long is even worse. I can't stick still if money I OWN is not available to me.

Why did you come here to threaten them? This is not even the right department/place to do so.

It's 15 bucks...if you don't have that laying around for a pre auth, than you really need to evaluate if you should be spending your time playing a video game...

Heck just going to the gas station here some times puts a 70 dollar hold for 3 days on my card and I don't flip out as bad as this community has over a measly 15 bucks.

I have no idea why this is a public post on the forum. Call your bank or email Zeni support. The bank actually hold and clear the pre-auths.

Having it pending for whatever amount of time has nothing to do with Zenimax, its your bank.
  • RipVanWinkleX
I needed to rant. Well, one thing is that I have different accounts. This account is for entertainment only, so there is limited funds. The 15 they took is not my money but my wifes part of the entertainment account. So she is pissed at me.

So then I just call them to get rid of the pending then?

Most banks will take 1-3 days.

If you call your bank and act like a reasonable, polite human being I'm sure they'll work with you and remove the charge.

What is this going to accomplish? The Devs are not looking at the forums going, "Look at this edgy fella, we better reverse his transaction first before he gets mad."

Patience is a virtue. Call your bank. Be polite. Explain the situation and ask if they could expedite the removal. It's truly very simple.

Why.... dont you call the bank and have the hold released? If your sub stuff set up, you can request the hold released.

Call them and ask, it depends on the bank.
  • RipVanWinkleX
Well, then I am glad I *ranted* on this forum. I will call tomorrow to see what's up. Otherwise I will post again.

I could have posted a bit more nice. But that would mean less people would try to act better then me and tell me what I could do ^.^

Reverse, perhaps. Request hold release, no.

because Zeni's Custoemrr services is behind by DAYS. Contact CS if you can't play so that is almost everyone because no one want to pay their sub fee before their free month. Neverind this is only an issue in the US because they can't do thi kind of this in Europe because the laws are different. American law protects the rights of business to make money while looking a the customer as little more than a sheep for sheering ready to be reaped for profit.

If it's a debit card, the bank has 72 business hours to remove the pending charge if the funds aren't collected. If it's a credit card, they have up to 30 days. This is US law anyway...I can't speak for European laws.

Zenimax cannot refund anything, because they did not collect any funds from you. There is literally nothing for them to refund. They have *no control* over how your bank handles authorization holds. They can't even request that the authorization hold be released. You can, and sometimes the bank will work with you on it, but I would be fully prepared to hear "you need to wait 72 hours".

There is a gas station near where I used to work, that puts a $50 authorization hold on your card when you use the pay-at-the-pump thing.

Read up on how it works before you start accusing anyone of anything. Zenimax has NOT taken any money from you. Your bank has just made it unavailable temporarily. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Authorization_hold

It usually takes 48-72 hrs for a pending charge to drop off. That being said if the $15 impacted your balance, then it is not pending.

It doesn't impact your balance. It impacts your *available* balance. This article is quite informative. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Authorization_hold

    ****UPDATE****

Called my bank. And they said it looks like they took our money, she said that tomorrow morning is when it will either go though and I lost the 15 or they will give it back. So they HAVE the 15 dollars, but unless they give it back by tomorrow my account will go from pending to complete transaction.

My bank told me that I should dispute the charge if it's not returned, which I will certainly will.

So they HAVE the 15 dollars, but unless they give it back by tomorrow my account will go from pending to complete transaction.

My bank told me that I should dispute the charge if it's not returned, which I will certainly will.

The fact that they said you have to wait until tomorrow indicates that they *haven't* taken your money, and that it is an authorization hold. If they had claimed the funds, it would no longer show as a pending charge, and it would show as cleared.

I used to work for a bank (though in an IT role), and I saw a lot of low level customer service reps that didn't really understand how authorization holds work.

I just looked at my bank statement, and it clearly displays that it's an authorization hold, and they even have a "help" window that explains how the process works. "Pending" means that it has NOT posted, and that it is an authorization hold. I have a $1 authorization hold from a gas station on the line above that, that looks exactly the same.

Pending Misc. Debit POS DEBIT 855.296.3170ELDRSCROLS ROCKVILLE MD $14.99

    Pending Transactions

The Date column on your Account Activity page shows pending transactions that have not yet posted to your account (reflected with a date of "Pending"), as well as items that have been posted (reflected with the post date, e.g., 07/11/2011). To understand the difference between the two, it's helpful to review the posting process.

When you use a debit card to pay a merchant, or you initiate a deposit, withdrawal or transfer to your account, you authorize the transaction amount. These transactions will not be posted to your account until the bank receives and processes them.

For most merchant transactions, the merchant knows the exact amount of the transaction and asks you to authorize that amount. For example, if you buy $82.75 worth of groceries, the market would ask you to authorize an $82.75 charge or debit to your account. That amount would then appear as a pending transaction on your Account Summary until it was posted.

Sometimes, though, the merchant doesn't know the transaction amount until after the purchase is complete. A good example of this is at the gas pump. Before you fill your tank, you're asked to swipe your debit card to approve your purchase. A $1 charge may be placed on your account temporarily until it's replaced with the actual purchase amount. For example, if your gasoline purchase is $22.50, then that amount will be paid to the merchant and posted to your account. However, you may see a $1 charge in the pending transaction section of your My Accounts page for 1 to 3 days until the merchant submits the actual amount of your purchase. You should always immediately deduct the actual purchase amount from your balance, even though it could take a few days for the money to be taken out of your account.

When Zenimax does not claim the funds after 72 hours, the authorization hold disappears.

Happened here also. Transaction went from pending to posted as of this morning. Have received no response from the billing department. Can't call them since the phone number link takes you to a email only page. To me customer service is as important as gameplay. Unless this is fixed quickly they will receive no more money from me. Seems money is the only language they understand so far. Great first impression Zeni!!
  • RipVanWinkleX
I hope so saer. But if it's completed the transaction tomorrow then I will disputing it, even if it costs me my account.
