Login Timeout Error

kolesar975
On twitter they said the NA server is back up, but now I have a login timeout error every time I try to log in. Any answers as to how they're trying to fix this?

having same problem. first had to validate my computer, then this after I got the code to validate.
  • kolesar975
also I'm not even sure I got the new patch for the NA server
  • Billy_Gnosis
Having the same issue after downloading the most recent patch.

First, it was telling me my login information was incorrect..
Now it's giving me this timeout error.

I have no idea what to do! I've already set up my subscription/payment plan, and have played after the fact, so I'm at a loss.

If anyone has any idea as to a fix for this, please share.

Scavenged the forums for some sort of answer, and I found this in a similar thread.

    Hi folks,

Players who are attempting to log into The Elder Scrolls Online beta client and receiving the error "Login Error: Login Timeout" should first check the version of the client. The client version should be 1.0.0.953227.

The client version is located in the bottom-left corner of the login screen.

Players who see their client is not Version 1.0.0.953227 should perform the following steps:
    • Close both the game and the launcher
    • Open the game installation directory
    • Open the folder named "Launcher"
    • Inside the "Launcher" folder, there is a folder named "ProgramData"
    • Rename the "ProgramData" folder to "ProgramDataBackup"
    • Open the launcher and download update
    • Click "Play"

    Have fun in Tamriel!

Could you check how many ProgramData folders you have now? It added one new ProgramData folder to the ProgramDataBackup (renamed). Is it right?

Yes, a new "ProgramData" should have been added, and your renamed "ProgramDataBackup" will have remained in the Launcher folder.

Should be safe to toss now that we're done with it.

Log in and then loading just forever and ever. Sigh. Such a bummer. By this point I feel some free time is in order. This is just too ridiculous.

Didn't work here. No DL update option for me, hit check for updates - nothing - different version number & still timing out.

Have you gone into the Elder Scrolls Online directly, clicked the Launcher folder, and renamed "ProgramData" to "ProgramDataBackup"?

After you've done that, re-opening the launcher should immediately initiate a "Re-do" of that last patch.

My issue has been fixed by doing just this, and I'm currently in game with no further problems.

Hm. I'm sorry to hear that. Perhaps you should open up a ticket with Customer Support. Could be something more involved.

Same - solution outlined didn't work - still just timing out

Yeah, once they fix their launcher so that it doesn't drop errors on me constantly, I'll start using it.

The only way I can play the game is to get the files from an alternate source, then run the eso.exe file separately.

It's not a fix (because the whole point of a launcher to to get the files to your system), but if you can find the files elsewhere (either torrent or a different computer that doesn't have the issues), that might help.

I just renamed the directory, downloaded the patch (don't know if I had it or not) and the timed out was fixed. Thanks for the tip. Worked for me (NB! I checked that the program was fully removed from memory before renaming)

kinda found a fix now for those who still have trouble patching. go to options and change server to the NA megaserver and oh surprise (not really) the NA patch server works. then start the game once on NA server and quit again ( no need to login) then switch back to EU megaserver and login - voila im not stuck in a dungeon anymore.

FIXED. When you launch the launcher in the middle of it there is a news section with a little gear symbol that says game options.
-click and select check for updates
-should then say repair, click and after that it should download the update
-you might be able to just hit repair first but the above steps got it working for me
-FYI the first time I logged in I got in and it crashed immediately had to login twice but all is good now

Been there - done that. Nada - except to tell me there's an error and the files are already 'in use' by another application. and the quit the game.....which I can't log into......head-->desk

Could you all check inside the Launcher folder please? Can you see two folders one named ProgramData and another one ProgramDataBackup?
